Easy steps were made to the elevator, and though it seemed to have a long trek to reach their floor, she was thankful for the extra time it allowed her to steal from the lawyer's day. Her free hand curled around Teddy's arm, making sure to have every point if contact she could, unaware of the potential eyes that were on them.
A little laugh escaped her, because she realized she had yet to really tell her about the pets she had. It was probably better to let her know then rather than when she was at the door. "Six - and I know that seems like a lot, but they're all well behaved." She knew to the average person it was excessive. "And it helps that I can communicate with them, it's not nearly as crazy as it seems."

Six was a lot. Teddy raised her eyebrows in clear surprise; suddenly it all made sense as to why she considered a solitary life so lonely. Her home sounded so crowded, but to each their own, she knew. At least she got a kind of warning first, and she had to be thankful for that.
"Should I be nervous?" She asked with a laugh. It was a little odd to speak of animals like they were people, but the person she was dealing with has a unique enough ability that made it so. "If they don't like me, is that the end of everything?"

Surprise was clear in the lawyer's expression, and Natalie let out her own laugh for it - albeit a nervous one. It was a lot to take in, and really, it was like meeting family in a way. Teddy had chosen the perfect label, meaning to or not. More was the question that followed; it drew another laugh out the trainer, this one a carrying more humor than the last. She couldn't recall the last time a person heavily considered the opinion of her animals like that - if ever - before even seeing her ability in use. She had acute understanding, and Natalie was thankful for that.
"They'll love you," she reassured with a squeeze of Teddy's arm. "And if they don't - they'll learn to." Her own eyebrows rose upwards at the statement playfully. She wasn't going to let go of the lawyer so easily.

It was, in a round about way, a denial to the humoured question Teddy had asked. That was a good thing; it meant even if it all ended in the worst way, she still had something of a chance to salvage whatever this was.
She glanced down at the hand that held her arm so surely as she squeezed it. It was the briefest of looks, but it happened nonetheless.
"I'll do my best to leave a lasting, positive impression." Leaning in, she dropped her voice a touch as she continued; "But you'll have to put in a good word for me." That was, if she hadn't already.

It was so sweet that she cared; there was comfort in knowing that she did. Losing Teddy's eyes only made her offer another squeeze of her arm, this time as an extra boost of encouragement to the confident lawyer. Natalie had no doubt that she'd leave a good impression on her animals, especially given that she'd been talking to them about her practically nonstop since their first meeting. "I already have." She reassured with a grin.
The ding of the elevator announced that it arrived to their floor, and it dragged Natalie's gaze away just for a moment as the doors opened up. A few steps brought them inside as she smiled at the lawyer.

Though she couldn't get much closer, just leaning in a fraction was worthy. They stood in an office full of people and a slight drop of her voice meant that for once, she was trying to personalise their little conversation a bit more. At least Teddy had been talked up to to her future company. She clearly looked thankful for that.
Finally she looked away to acknowledge the opening doors before them. Not a soul stood inside, and so Teddy took the necessary steps to move inside without having to wait for anyone else but Natalie. Reaching out with her free hand, she pressed the button for the ground floor, then pressing to close the door and accelerate privacy as best she could.

As the doors slowly came to a shut, the trainer was thankful for the privacy that four small walls provided. The decent to the ground floor was slow, and given their history with elevators, she had to find humor in it as she detangled her arms from the lawyer's only to properly face her. A hand pressed to each side of Teddy's face, drawing her in and catching her lips, the burning impatience of wanting to kiss her properly coming through with the connection.
Because it wasn't as if she believed people were to be watching in the office, but true privacy offered something more intimate, even if it was on a short lived elevator ride.

The doors closed and Teddy was looking back at her immediately after the fact. She was free from the arms that tangled around her own, and familiar hands instead rested at either side of her face. Though she still didn't know her all that well, it felt like something she often did. She'd come to expect it, and so she gave in to the way it drew her in so willingly.
Away from prying eyes - even just for a few seconds - allowed Teddy to be indulgent. There was an obvious kind of passion she could taste on her lips and it was a thought and feeling blatantly shared.
Hands filtered into her jacket, palms slowly grazing up her back to press against her shoulder blades and draw her in a little more; if there was any space left between them in the first place.

Familiar hands finding their way into her jacket was the perfect form of encouragement; it pulled her through the minimal distance remaining between them, form pressing against her counterpart's as her hands slowly shifted down her shoulders and arms before settling at the lawyer's waist. Anything to keep that connection alive while they had the time. A little bit of pressure let her know that she was thankful for the shared thought.
Breathing was never something that came easy when she was around Teddy, even more so when she captivated her attention so well in moments like these. When a break between them was necessary, the breath Natalie let out was exasperated, if only because she didn't wish to take the time knowing that there wasn't much. When she breathed in again, she was quick to kiss her a second time, tongue daring to run across painted lips.

How she could possibly go back up a series of flights and set her mind to work was growing to be beyond Teddy. Anticipation burned like literal fire as her hands threatened to cling to the clothes she wore, like cursing it for being in the way despite their hidden public setting.
A forced break to catch her breath was understandably frustrating. She could practically feel that from her given the harsh way she exhaled, and how it seared her own skin in proximity.
Just as quickly as she'd caught her lips, she lost them again in favour of a heavy exhale for the way she had pushed. Her hands balled the fabric at their favour up in her fists as she laughed at the absurdity of getting so caught up with little to no time on her hands.

The kiss was shirt lived when she felt a harsh breath immediately against her lips, and the fabric at her shoulders grew tight from the way it was taken hold of. Though that was hardly anything bad, and neither was the laugh that came shortly after. It forced a grin to Natalie's own lips, feeling the humor escape in her lungs just moments after.
It was like they were teenagers, though Natalie couldn't recall a time she behaved like this, even when she was younger. She caught her lips again, though this time more gently, before drawing away at the feeling of the elevator leveling with the ground floor.

Absurdity clouded the way every reactive move felt around this woman. Teddy held herself in such high regard almost all the time. Every movement and thought and action coated itself in a kind of well defined, clever grace. But there she was - in the elevator of her business - wishing she didn't have to take the floor back up alone. She had to laugh at herself for her own actions.
Then a lighter touch hit her lips in a stark contrast. The floor beneath them levelled out. Teddy took just about space to look at her.
Drawing both hands across her form, she finally withdrew them from her body. She reached up a second later to brush her thumb across the edge of her lower lip. "It's a good colour on you." She declared then, eyebrows twitching at the drag of the elevator doors open.

Slowly, her hands filtered off of the lawyer, despite the desire to keep them on her. She sucked in a deep breath as to try and level her rapid pulse, dark eyes following the way Teddy's hand moved to fix the makeup she had smudged.
It brought a little laugh out of Natalie, and for a moment she hadn't moved even as the doors opened. "I'll have to try it on more often." Her own eyebrows quirked upward, reaching forward to give Teddy's arm a light squeeze before finally taking a necessary step out of the elevator. Anything more and she feared she wouldn't be able to leave her to her work at all.
"I'll see you tonight."
