GOVERNMENT OFFICIALS ► INFORMATION The "government officials" are mostly mutants who work directly for the government in various branches. These branches are all connected, though work differently.
★ Recruiters ★ Task Force Champions ★ Researchers RECRUITERS ► WHAT IS A RECRUITER? A recruiter is a government official worker who either works directly for the government, or works through the school. A recruiter is someone who detects newly manifested mutants and are officially trained to collect the child from its home. To become a recruiter, one has to attend a mutant school, finish high school and attend a special college course where they train and are schooled accordingly. ► THE PROCESS When a child is to be recruited, the government send two recruiters, usually with complementary powers and personalities that work for the situation. The recruiters will contact the parents, often ahead of time, to arrange the meeting. Sometimes, unless the recruiter is one themselves, a social worker might be involved. The recruiters will then explain the situation and give the family some time to get ready. Some more cooperative families can even bring their child to the school. If the parents resist, recruiters start with persuasion. They then escalate to legal action. Recruiters do not use raw force against parents. If the students resist, recruiters, again, start with persuasion. Force isn't generally necessary, as this means the parent is cooperative, but it is a last resort, if the resistance is strong. Task Force Champion ► What is a task force champion? Task Force Champion (TFC) is a joint operation between the US Department of Defense and the administrators of the Bellefonte Academy aimed at utilizing the special abilities of mutants for the purposes of local law enforcement, public safety and domestic security.
Members of TFC work under the jurisdiction of the local government and are most often assigned positions based upon their roles within the task force itself. Field operators are commonly found working as patrol officers, paramedics, firefighters or controllers for local police and fire units. The goal of the program is to make full use of any supernatural advantages an agent may have as well as keep their learned skills sharp.
In moments of urgency or need, the members of TFC are often lent out to different agencies across the country, such as the Department of Homeland Security or the US Coast Guard to lend their special brand of expertise. They also oversee many Academy events, especially those that involve students or staff venturing out into the public. ► THE PROCESS Potential members of TFC must pass a rigorous selection process including background checks, physical fitness tests and mental exams. Recruits are trained both in basic tactical skills and applicable uses of their mutant powers. Training is overseen by both local emergency services and Academy officials. RESEARCHERS ► WHAT IS A RESEARCHER? Much like the side-effects specialist and the power/genetic mutation specialists, researchers studies mutants. They study everything about them, from the way their power works, to which genes mutate in order for someone to have powers. They study ways to remove powers, though, unsuccessfully so, and how to enhance them, or even use them. ► THE PROCESS There isn't much to say about the actual process as most researchers do things differently.
