Lena was easily the eldest in the club and in being so, she felt like a den mother to the other girls. She was trying to get a sense of who each of them were and have been getting to know them one by one and today, as everyone was busy with rehearsals, one of them was doing her own practices.
The redhead approached the blonde and held a hand up, waving with her fingers.
"Need help with stretching?" She asked with a smile. "I'm Lena by the way."

Working for an ex-boyfriend might not have been ideal for most people, but Callie had to count herself incredibly lucky for it. There was no animosity between them at all. In fact, she found herself looking for him on days where she really should have been paying attention to the actual people around her.
She'd seen the woman with the bright red hair before, but never talked to her. She sort of just looked at her from a distance like she did most others. She didn't know how much older she was but given the way she looked Callie had to assume it wasn't by much. She was super nice to look at though; maybe that wasn't what she was supposed to focus on, but as she approached, that was all she could think of.
"Oh, I don't need to." She said quickly. Maybe a little too quickly. She laughed at that; "I'm Callie, and that wasn't me being a jerk, I promise. It's just a power thing."
Smooth landing, right? She hoped so. "I can help you though, if you want." Callie tried again, bright eyes beaming.

Lena's eyebrows shot up before a pleasant laugh escaped her lips. She nodded when Callie mentioned "a power thing". Lena was the complete opposite. She needed to stretch all the time so her muscles didn't atrophy. Especially now that she was getting older.
"That'd be great actually." Lena smiled brightly as she got on the floor and began to do some stretches with Callie's assist. "So how long have you been dancing by the way?" The Aussie asked, doing what she had come up to the blonde to do.

Callie half expected her offer to be turned down. Then again, she knew nothing about the red headed woman who agreed to help her in the first place. She was happy to help.
Being physically close to someone who was an absolute bombshell was easily distracting for the young dancer who blatantly liked girls in every form. She caught the question but took a second or so before she managed an answer.
"Since I was a kid. But y'know, that was a lot of classical training sorta stuff." Nothing like this, but the bare bones of it all definitely helped in every category. "I had a job like this a couple of years ago, but the place closed down, so it's nice to get back into it. What about you? You're like, a master or something."

Lena nodded at her answer, impressed by the younger woman's training. When the question was turned back to her, Lena couldn't help but laugh and shrug. "Same as you, although most of my dance lessons back then were freestyle and hip hop."
Talking about her past always made her feel special about herself. She had been good enough to win major competitions and picked out of the crowd for a renowned dance troupe in a span of five years. She could brag about it every once in a while.
"I was part of a troupe in the UK for about five years before I came here." She added with a smile before wincing slightly when she over stretched a limb.
"My old body is rejecting my lifestyle though lately." She joked, giving out a chuckle as she gestured for Callie to pull her body forward after doing a split.
Lena looked up at Callie. "Did you find this place by flyer too?"

As Callie listened on, she very quickly realised how little she'd done with her own life. Granted, she was still young, but it made her feel like waiting around Stagfort for whatever reason was just the wrong choice. Sticking to her comfort zone was so easy, though, and it was always a hard call to ignore.
The idea of a body failing her was another harsh truth that hit home. She frowned uncontrollably, mainly because she felt bad for her, and a little because she felt a familiar kind of fear. Still, she curled hands around her and eased her body forward.
"I saw it, yeah." It was funny how a little piece of paper could draw so many people in; "I didn't even know if I really wanted to go for a gig like this, so I just turned up to watch, really. But the guy who owns it is a guy I went to school with. He's pretty persuasive." That was one word to describe Luca. A safe word, at that.

"Luca's your friend? I didn't think he had any of those." Lena chuckled as she looked towards the office where Luca always disappeared to.
They didn't have the rapport that Lena was hoping to have but it was still early days and the young man was going to break sooner or later. She just had to be patient.
"How was he when you were in school? He seems so tightly wound." Lena asked with a wrinkled nose.

Even Callie had to laugh at that. She had absolutely no idea what kind of persona Luca portrayed to everyone else who worked here, but she knew she got some kind of differential treatment. People didn't need to know why, though.
She tried her best not to smile, but she was never good at hiding how she felt.
"He's not a whole lot different. Not really. I mean, he's actually a lot more... Chill? Than he used to be." She explained. Considering the natural temperature of his skin, she had to laugh at that too, even if it was an accident. "But we were really close, so I guess I got to know him better than anyone else. My opinion is probably like totally biased."

"Oy...I can't imagine how he used to be then." Lena laughed as she twisted her body in a stretch. Callie's little joke made her snort slightly and brought up a curious thought.
"I'm sorry for asking this but what exactly is your ability? I don't recognise it." Lena asked before turning back to Callie with a curious smile.
Her abilities were always detecting something. It irked her sometimes, especially when it's an ability she didn't recognise. After fifteen odd years of it, she still didn't quite like not knowing what was causing her tingles.

"He was cute." Callie brushed the thought off easily. It wasn't like he wasn't now. Anyone with eyes could see that; "But, y'know, now he's a boss. So less cute and more... Y'know." She backed away from the potentially inappropriate with a laugh and a quick wave of her hand.
"Oh no, that's cool." She said then, though she couldn't even try to understand why she said she wouldn't recognise it. "To put it easily, I have hyper flexible muscles like... Naturally. To put it weirdly, I can pop a bone out of its socket and not have to really stress about it. It's all painful and stuff but you get used to it. Makes dancing a breeze." And she'd always count herself lucky for that.
"Why do you wanna know?" Now she had to figure it out before she stood in the dark forever.

Lena laughed at Callie's response. So there was something there Lena couldn't read. She simply grinned and nodded, letting it go. They were just getting to know each other so teasing had to have limits.
As Callie explained, Lena's ability picked up the subtle nuances of the power and she had to shut it off before she siphoned it off Callie.
"Oh...well, how my abilities work is that I can sense when someone has an ability but I can't figure out exactly what it is. Every ability has a very subtle mark on it that mine picks up. Although I honestly still don't know how it works but I will get tingles from it and most of the time, I know what the ability is but I've never encountered yours. That's a decent thing to have as a dancer though. And for Halloween." She chuckled. "I'm always curious about people's abilities. Just so I can identify the different marks each ability has."
Once she was warmed up enough, Lena sprung up to her heels and blew out a loud sigh of relief. "That feels good." She said. "Oh, do you know your routine and who you're performing with this weekend?"

Callie could honestly say she'd never met someone with an ability like that. "So you just like know who's a meta and who isn't. That's so cool." It'd certainly make for a more comfortable approach to strangers. Some people weren't the most hospitable to their kind. "I wouldn't trade it for the world though." Because she was right; it was way too good for what she did.
A change in conversation whipped her attention to a greater focus. "No, actually." She admitted, feeling a little foolish for the fact. But she was quick to shrug the negative feeling off; "Am I lucky enough to have you?"

Lena smiled and shrugged when Callie said her ability was cool. It was now for sure, but early days, it hadn't been. Especially since when she first started school, she didn't have any control over who she siphoned off and because most of the metas she siphoned off of were students who had no control over their own abilities, she had been victim to all their side effects.
Not to mention all the black outs she suffered when she didn't know how to switch off the abilities she siphoned.
But like Callie, Lena wouldn't trade hers for anything else. With the control she had, she really could go to town with it.
"I've got someone named Jessalynn." The Australian shrugged. She hadn't had the chance to meet the girl though. "How funny would it be if you, me and a brunette got a slot eh?" She chuckled.

The name offered didn't ring a bell for Callie, but that was okay. She hadn't met many of the people who worked there, but the ones she managed to encounter were all pretty nice.
"Whoever she is, she'd be crazy to say no, right?" Callie asked her with a laugh. Eyes trailed the room around them like she'd somehow manage to actually see her. Wishful thinking from the optimist.

Lena laughed, the tip of her tongue peeking in between her teeth. "Agreed." She nodded and followed the blonde's line of sight before bending down to grab her bottle of water.
Finishing half in a matter of seconds, she turned to Callie with a smile. "Would you mind practising my routine with me? The number is a little awkward without a partner in parts of it."
