Carter laughed at the notion of a stand off. As people scattered in their own way for cover, there they stood. He was completely out of his element and she was entirely engrossed in hers. Homefield advantage slipped from his hands in seconds.
His face twitched with the unfamiliar movement of water against his skin, knowing it was her doing.
"No my dear," Carter interjected, reaching for her outstretched hand and curling his around it; "I'm giving you all the power here." Over this. Over himself. It was all enfolded, "What you do with it is entirely up to you."

Watching the siblings interact offered a typical exchange. He was the older brother who cared for her safety, and she was the younger soul who didn't care for that care. It almost made him want to laugh, but he knew if he broke the silence like that, he'd never hear the end of it. His name was brought up for a kind of good measure, like he would act as the bouncer. If it got him through the doors on a regular basis, he'd take it.
"I could stay, if you like. I assume your request for a dinner date was really aimed towards me." He replied then, despite how Kenny had shot the idea down. The grin on his face was ripe with a special kind of sarcastic humour.

Small droplets fell against his shoulders and hair lightly. The sound of it was calming to some degree, but Carter knew she'd get a lot more out of the element than he ever could. It didn't seem to bother her in the slightest, but then, she had every inch of control in this situation.
"This stand off is of your own creation." He pointed out with an amused tone and a laugh. "It's entirely up to you when it finishes."

At her notion of his words being bold, Carter simply shrugged against the frame of the door. The weight of his own statements wasn't lost on him; he knew it was a stark cry from who she remembered, and that didn't seem to bother him at all.
"I don't know yet." He admitted. "I just know that while I'm happy to be a friend to you, to an extent. I just don't want to be left there forever."

It surprised him to hear someone like Isaac go against the norm like that. Considering the bar was where he'd found him when he first moved back in, he was surprised to say the least that he
"And camping is the solution to all that?" He said with a laugh, waving his hand at the fact. It didn't sound like the first thing someone would think of, but that was one of the things he liked about Isaac. "Do you even own... A tent?" It was the first thing he could think of. Actually, it was the only thing.

"Oh, you play so well, Luxanna." Carter quipped instantly. For someone who had little to no experience in this field, she was awfully good at urging the other party to play their hand first.
"As far as first one's go, this is pretty unconventional. I mean..." Now wasn't the time to point out how many of these ended back at his dorm room or apartment when he was a little younger, "I shouldn't have expected any less of you." Nothing about her had ever met the standard, and perhaps that was what he liked most about their interactions. She was always different.
"But I'm not some friend you can leave in that little zone of indescribable awkwardness." He continued on, "Nor am I someone looking to sleep with you for the sake of it and never see you again."

"Oh, y'know, pulling double shifts at the local diner." Carter replied simply, like he really meant it. Of course he didn't have a job. For someone like Carter, working while studying was just a blatant waste of time.
"And by that I of course mean that I have no plans. I imagine it'll be crazy at the usual bar." And that was likely where he'd end up.

Luxanna had always been nice. She always smiled and it always looked similar, from memory. But the look she gave him when he offered to cook for her felt different. More genuine, if nothing else. It was an enthralling thought alone.
"That depends on how you define it." Carter started then, shrugging his shoulders in his own consideration; "Is that a second date? Or is it two friends... Hanging out."

Hands shoved into the pockets of his jacket immediately after he spoke. Carter clutched his phone instinctively, keeping it secure as she spoke. He was considering just how bad it would be if water trickled its way anywhere near it.
Shrugging his shoulders, he let his mouth drag to a kn owing grin. He didn't say a word, he just let the time pass and the rain inevitably fall.

Carter took a moment or two to register Isaac's presence before he heard the words on offer. Looking at the familiar blonde, Carter certainly wouldn't peg him for the type to enjoy the outdoors. Then again, if he himself wasn't a terrakinetic, people probably wouldn't guess it of him either.
"None I would invite to something like this." He admitted then, shrugging his shoulders lightly; "I wouldn't say no if you brought your sister, though." The grin he wore was instantaneous.

Despite it not being his preferred element, Carter saw no worry in the impending storm. She seemed quick to suddenly want to warn him, but her wording was almost confusing. Daring, even.
"Should I set myself up to stand beneath it with you?" He asked. She looked like she'd actually enjoy that. Carter knew it wouldn't be the first time she'd aimlessly stood beneath the rain.

Shrugging his shoulders, Carter considered how he really felt about he mundane chores she couldn't imagine him doing. "Its okay." He admitted. Cooking was just a means to an end, and he couldn't see it as anything but a chore.
"No one's ever died from my cooking. Not to my knowledge anyway. But then, the list of recipients is low, so I couldn't really say." He added, laughing at the thought. "Care to try it sometime?"

At the news that she was at the college too, Carter couldn't help but smile. He liked the small sense of normality this place gave him despite how new it really was to all of them.
The sound of the impending storm still didn't really seem to phase him; he continued to ignore it without a second thought now that his attention was on her.
"My dear; did you ever really think I was trying to escape you?"

It was hard for most to talk about themselves when asked. If the situation had been turned, Carter wasn't sure what he'd list as his own hobbies. A lot changed in years since their school days, and as he matured, so did his interests.
"Does a furby collection count as a hobby?" Carter had to ask, and when he briefly considered it, he supposed collecting anything made for something of a hobby. She was so wonderfully weird like that, "But cooking? I didn't know that counted either. I'm good at that, so perhaps that's one of mine, too."

"I will. If I ever finish anything. I promise." Carter said with ease. And though he didn't seem the type to keep promises, he actually wasn't one to make them in the first place. That was far too dangerous to give people an easy way to be let down.
"Come on, there has to be more to you than tending bar and living with your father." At this stage in her life, they were the only two things he really knew about her. "You've got hobbies. You must do."
And he was hardly going to let up now; "What are they?"
