An annoyed sigh fell from the brunette's lips as she pulled over. She had dance rehearsals in twenty minutes and she was already late.
To save some time, though, she digged out her licence and registration as the cop moved towards the vehicle. She rolled down the window and before the cop could finish, she'd already flicked her wrist towards the window, the licence and registration ready for plucking.
She kept her eyes on the clock on her dashboard. Eighteen minutes left.
She wondered if she'd save any time by taking the road past the park instead of the downtown one...

Eleanor Constance Bennett FACE CLAIM: Ella Purnell.♦ THE BASICS ♦ AGE: Twenty-two. GENDER: Female. ORIENTATION: Heterosexual. POSITION: College Student @ BA.
♦ THE ABILITY ♦ POWER: Psychometry. Eleanor has the ability to understand the "life story" of an object by using her senses around it. This means that through touch she can pick up "residual energy" from the object. Her power works very much like a mind reader's does, as she can read the memories of the objects she touches. She can see who the object has been with, what it has been through, how old it is, it's last location, and similar things.
These images appear like a short movie. Whether or not they include sound, smell or any of the other senses besides sight, depends entirely on the memory in question. These are often random, and more often than not, Eleanor cannot control what memory she picks up on, unless she has some basic knowledge about the object.
For example. She cannot pick up a random object and pick whatever memory she wants. She has to know what she's looking for in order to find the specifics. Whenever she doesn't, the memory that appear will be random.
Most of the time, Eleanor is in control of her ability, meaning that these memories doesn't appear every time she picks up an item or touches a door handle. She can consciously turn her ability off and on, but that doesn't mean it's bullet proof. She has and is still experiencing memories popping into her head when accidentally touching an object.
LIMITATIONS:
- Eleanor's ability only work for inanimate objects; she cannot read the history of sentient things, such as humans or animals.
- This ability only works through touch.
- Objects that are older or who have been handled and loved by people longer have a stronger psychic impact; those that are newly made or ignored are harder to read. Meaning that it's easier for her to pick up on memories of object with a lot of history, whereas the ones with less of a history has less to choose from, thus making it harder for her.
- Whenever she reads a memory, the ability suck her out of the present moment entirely, meaning that her body will freeze up (or grow completely limp) and she will be hard to reach. While the memory plays, she doesn't sense anything going on outside the memory. This might last from anything between a few seconds to few minutes, all depending on the length of the memory.
- The more detailed a memory is, the harder it will be for her to properly get a read on it, as it can overload her senses, and thus cause her to black out.
SIDE-EFFECTS:
- She suffers from headaches that increase in severity the more information she gleans from objects.
- The more information the memory include, the quicker it'll overload her system, and can result in fainting. These headaches can grow into migraines and further develop into nose bleeds and nausea.
- Eleanor often suffers from confusion after reading an object. The confusion can be anything from wondering where she is, what time it is (day/month/year). This happens especially if the memory she reads is further away from the present time.
- Can sometimes encounter issues with seeing inanimate objects as inanimate; can often end up personifying an object, as if it has emotions and thoughts of its own.
♦ THE FREEFORM ♦ I was born in Beaufort, South Carolina, along with a single mother that did her best, which wasn't much to brag about. Along with me came my twin brother, and two younger siblings. All different fathers. All different genetics. Well, for the most part.
It's the only thing that has mattered for as long as I can remember. Dancing, that is. There was never anything else. No broad horizons or the grass being greener on the other side. The stage and me.
That was all I ever needed. All that ever mattered.
I was eleven when I first manifested my ability. The details aren't nearly as important as the fact that, at the time, I thought I wouldn't be able to dance anymore. Silly, I suppose, since most schools do offer dancing.
Of course he manifested too. My twin. You know that talk about genetics? Yeah, we just happened to get the dad with the mutant gene. Lucky us.
I think that some people are born not to be lost. To know, from early on, exactly what they're meant to be doing. That's how it was for me at least. I knew exactly what I wanted to do. And then I went along and did it.
It was that simple.
I've always been a creature of habit. I never liked change much. I'm comfortable in my ways and that's fine. It's great. It allows to look straight ahead without getting distracted by silly notions. They call it ignorance. I call it passion.
But then there's this guy. And I know what you're thinking: There's always a guy, right? But it's different. He's different. And not in a good way, either. I don't even think the word hate could begin to describe the situation I find myself in.
He's just always there. And then there's his brother - and then there's two of them, and it's stupid.
And there he is again, with those brown eyes looking at you like everything's going to be okay. All up in your business, relentlessly annoying you 'til you can't handle it anymore. And you sort of just melt, but then you remember that you hate him. Then you want to bone him, but you end up hitting him instead.
Fuck.
He left. It felt like I could breathe again.
And suddenly, the things that once mattered, didn't. And the things that hadn't, did.
Fuck.
