Chandler Winslow FACE CLAIM: Caitlin Stasey.♦ THE BASICS ♦ AGE: Twenty-one. GENDER: Female. ORIENTATION: Unsure. POSITION: College Student @ Bellefonte.
♦ THE ABILITY ♦ POWER: Power Mimicry Chandler has the ability to mimic other mutant's powers. However, nine out of ten times, she has to make contact with the mutant she mimics the ability from, but there have been rare instances where she's used her power without having to actually touch the person.
She generally has a good handle on whether or not she mimics an ability when touching another mutant, though, whenever she feels over emotional, she doesn't control her ability as easily.
Although Chandler doesn't have power sensing as part of her power, she can recognize the powers she mimics them if she's mimicked them more than once. However, she cannot sense the abilities around her. She cannot recognize them without actually having mimicked them first.
LIMITATIONS:
- She generally cannot copy an ability for more than thirty minutes to an hour. But it's always temporary.
- She can only copy one power at the time, and if the mutant she copies her ability from has two, she generally copies the most prominent one.
- When mimicking a power, Chandler also gets all their power's limitations.
- She also copies the level of their power, as in, she cannot be stronger or weaker, she copies the power directly, including the drawbacks and level of strength.
- She cannot copy powers such as power immunity.
SIDE-EFFECTS:
- When mimicking an ability, she also gets all their power's side-effects.
♦ THE FREEFORM ♦
"Just a young gun with a quick fuse I was uptight, wanna let loose." I was born in Manchester, England on December 31st. I was adopted by Robyn and Daniel Winslow, a hair dresser and a mechnaic who couldn't have any children of their own. My biological mother had accidentally gotten pregnant at sixteen and decided that putting me up for adoption was the best thing for me.
And really, it was. Don't take me wrong. My adoptive parents... My mom and dad, they're great.
What's not so great is when you turn fourteen and manifest your abilities while being at a sleepover. Apparently, one of the parents has super strength and I almost crushed her hand saying hello.
I mean, yeah, the recruiters showed up three days later and explained it all, but like... My parents didn't know what was going on, I didn't know what was going on, and I think they were scared of me. Or maybe not, me, me, but, like, my powers.
Like, thanks biological mom. Thanks for giving me the ability to mimic every superpower I come in contact with. I wish I had gotten some sort of disclaimer, though. Like, "oh, by the way. The baby you're adopting might be a super hero. Surprise!"
"I was dreaming of bigger things And wanna leave my own life behind."
But then I arrive at this school, this Posh school for pricks like me. St. Bethany. Even the name is posh. And I start to think:
This is actually kind of cool.
My life at St. Bethany was as you'd expect, I suppose. Like every other teenager, I found my crowd. My people. My fam. And it was great. A little crazy and surreal, but you know. It kind of comes with the territory, I think.
And my parents eventually get more comfortable with the idea. It's not like I can visit them during the holidays and accidentally light their curtains on fire, so I guess they had an easier time coming to terms with it than most parents would.
The funny thing is, though, I never blamed my biological mother for giving me away. She gave ma great life and great parents. And well, I might not have been very thankful for this ability at the moment, but I like them now. Sort of.
"Not a yes sir, not a follower Fit the box, fit the mold." I was... Sixteen when I discovered I had a passion for photographing. It just sort of flew up and hit me straight in the face. It was nothing I had ever considered before, but it just felt so right. I started taking classes and saved up for a camera on my own.
Along with my new passion came a sense of wanderlust. I wanted to explore more than what St. Bethany and England could offer. I called my mom and while she'd much rather see me stay in the country, she understood that I had to go on and do my own thing. My dad too, though, he was never the vocal type.
I arranged a transfer to Bellefonte in America.
"Have a seat in the foyer, take a number I was lightning before the thunder." And then I met this girl. Ask anyone else and she might have been ordinary, but to me? She was extraordinary.
I didn't think much of it to begin with. She was this nice girl that I liked being around. We had fun. And then I started loving being around her, which only lead to it hurting when I wasn't.
And then I wasn't.
"They say you're basic, they say you're easy You're always riding in the backseat." Then came graduation. I left. I packed my bags one night and I was out of there. I didn't tell anyone. I didn't tell her. It seemed better that way. Easier.
I went back home. Got a job. My mom was pleased to have me back home. I think my dad was too. I think they appreciated some noise in the house for a change.
My dad had issues with his health. Nothing serious, but he couldn't help around as much. I tried the best I could to be useful. I didn't feel useful, but I tried. My mom seemed happy about it.
"Now I'm smiling from the stage While you were clapping in the nose bleeds." While working, I took some general classes for photography, but it wasn't the real thing and after two years I found myself thinking that I hadn't really gotten any closer to achieving my goal.
I'd heard about Bellefonte moving states. It made me curious. I couldn't shake this feeling. I'd always enjoyed being at the school. More so than what I'd did with St. Bethany. I supposed it had nothing to do with the country, but the people. The students at Bellefonte had seemed a lot less... Stuck up.
The photography classes they had was better too.
"Thunder, feel the thunder Lightning then the thunder." It was my dad who talked me into it. He told me to stop being scared and go after what I wanted. If Bellefonte offered a better program, that was what I needed to set my mind to. It was free, too, so I wouldn't have to worry about the money. I wouldn't have to worry about a single thing.
So I left. Warily, but I left.
