Mina Holly Williams FACE CLAIM: Pyper America Smith
♦ THE BASICS ♦ AGE: Twenty Four GENDER: Female ORIENTATION: Pansexual POSITION: College Student @ BA
♦ THE ABILITY ♦ POWER: Psychic Mapping and Emotional Reading Psychic Mapping involves using tendrils of psychic energy to "map out" an area. The process provides an exact mental map of the space scanned, including the location of living beings. It can go as far as to map out an entire building and the people in it, although the greater the space mapped out the less clear the mental "map" is.
To a degree, Mina can also gain minor inslight into the emotions of specific people she hones in on; Although this is only at a light level. She sees the emotions in her mind's eye, appearing as colours within her usual mapping.
LIMITATIONS:
Mina cannot use her ability constantly. Any longer then 15 minutes of constant usage would cause her side effects.
At it's current height of use, Mina can only map out an area of around a two story building. Although this would require up to or exceeding her "safe" 15 minute time limit, and highly likely cause her side effects.
Although she can pinpoint the location of people within a relatively large space, unless they are within a radius of around 20 metres of herself she cannot pick up enough facial and body detail to tell exactly who they are; She knows there's SOMEONE there, but that's the extent of it. She seems whoever to be able to exceed that radius when it's someone she knows particularly well. Her twin seems to be the strongest candidate so far.
The further out she reaches with her ability, the less clear her mapping is. At around ten metres she stops being able to make out facial features, with beyond 15 only a rough shape of a person can be mapped out in her mind's eye.
The in real time mental "map" only lasts within her mind's eye as long as her ability is being used. Once she stops, she has to try and remember it on her own.
In terms of her ability to read emotions, Mina can only read those within around three metres of herself. This "reading" can currently only pick up on simple overall emotional wellbeing, and takes more concentration.
Mina has to hone in on someone specificly to read their emotions. She cannot read more then one person at a time, and the usual limitations of usage of her ability applies. (15 minutes of continuous usage before she occurs painful or damaging side effects.)
SIDE-EFFECTS
Using her ability for around 15 minutes or reaching out beyond 20 metres, Mina will start to suffer with side effects, starting with migraines and tiredness. She can continue to push herself, which leads to exhaustion, pushing to nosebleeds and eventually leads to unconsciousness. If she collapses, she can be out for over half a day.
Using her ability frequently within a day even within her limits will tend to lead to the more minor side effects, such as bad headaches. During a headache, Mina will struggle to use her ability.
Mina can suffer with second hand emotions depending on how long she's "reading" the other person. Longer then five minutes, she'll begin to actually feel minor elements of the emotion herself. These minor feelings grow stronger as she approuches her 15 minute limit.

Malibu, California. Age 13.
"Issac?!" A slight panic raised in her voice, that prickling of unease that comes with the realisation that you're lost heating the back of her neck. She frantically scanned the jostling crowd, trying spot the familiar figure of her brother. Her attention had dropped for a fleeting second and now she was well and truly lost. She bit her bottom lip, snapping a glare at a tall man who pushed her aside; Clearly the opening of the new mall was more important then manners, as the crowd continued to jostle and shove her. "Issac!" She called out, her voice snatched away by the hum of collective chatter, the young girl's narrowed gaze desperately searching out for her twin. And there it was again, the weird feeling of... Mental extention? She wasn't certain how she could describe it... But she could find him, she was certain, if she just reached out a little more...
The rush of information startled her, the sudden awareness of exactly what was beyond her nearly crushing surroundings flooding her mind; And just a little further ahead, she could SEE him. "Issac!" Relief washed over her and the map slipped from her mind in the same instant.
Kalispell, Montana. Age 13.
"What do you think?"
Mina stood back, her hands on her hips as she cast her poster of the Malibu skyline a slightly uncertain look. Was it lopsided? She hummed softly, before putting a finger to her lips with a thoughtful frown. It was a few seconds before she realised her brother hadn't responded, flicking a smile in the boy's direction, which dropped at her seemingly disinterested twin. "Hey, earth to Issac?" His eyes didn't even grant her a glance, sat on her bed with his back against the wall, laptop across his lap. He hasn't been quite himself since the recruiters had plucked them from their home; It took two weeks after realising they were "special", for the recruiters to show up, and the rush of intrigue Mina had felt at attending a school for people liek them missing him entirely. His forehead was furrowed, his fingers frantically dancing across the keys. "Issaccc!" She sang out, only to be cut off sharply by a snapped locking of blue eyed gazes and a low grunt of irritation. "... No need to be a grump." She sighed lightly before turning her attention back to the wall. "... Hmm. I think it needs to be nearer the window-" Mina then jumped in surprise at the shutting of a door. She looked back over to the bed... And at the space her twin had once occupied. Her smile fell.
Kalispell, Montana. Age 15.Weak. The word had been spoken in a low breath, still stinging with the heat of the moment and yet still it still plagued her thoughts. Sat up on her window sill, looking out at a rain drenched Kalispell, the town had never looked so gloomy. Mina buried her face into her jumper covered arms, a pathetic hiccup of a sob slipping from her despite herself. The word had never felt like such an accurate description; What a sad figure she must be. He was right. He was right. Kalispell, Montana. Age 17. "You're drunk." She could just about make out his words coherently in her mind; Although she didn't think she was THAT far gone. She could still walk in heels without stumbling, which was truly an achievement given how much alcohol she'd managed to down without the staff questioning the fake ID she'd teamed with a pretty smile. Still, despite her own reassurance, he looked hazy, the rolling of his eyes flaring her anger after she flicked a hand at him dismissively. "What?! W-What was that for?!" She snapped, shouting perhaps a little too loud. "Like YOU have any grounds for... For moral highgrounds!" She stumbled forwards then, the blonde hair she'd swept up into a messy bun falling a little over her face. She felt her twin's rough grip on her arm, holding her steady. She yanked it free. "Just fuck OFF, Issac!" An irritated sigh. "Look, just let me get you into a taxi or-" "... I'm perfectly capable to get one on my own-" A stumble. A well timed catch. And a "I told you so" smirk.
Kalispell, Montana. Age 18.
"Well, doesn't a certain brother of mine look dashing," A playful smile and light shoulder bump came from Mina, whispered as they waited not so patiently to be called up by name. Graduation had taken months to prepare for, so much so it was hard to believe that here they were, primped and polished and supposedly ready to be dropped into the deep end of adult life. Their parents were here; Of course they were, her Mother's face lightening up the sight of Mina catching her eye, followed by what she could see was likely a disapproving expression at her twin's hairstyle. Mina let out a low sigh. She was nervous. As though he knew, for a small moment, a hand reached out and took her own. A small squeeze gave her all the reassurance she needed, and as quickly as it had took her hold her twin let go. But it had been more then enough.

Oh, she'd seen men like him. She knew men like him. All velveteen compliments, one liners and "A drink for the lady". As though a cheap cocktail could buy her. She could almost allow herself to give in, give in to his polite charm and welcoming attitude... If it hadn't been for her need to have just a little more insight into the self proclaimed gentleman. At once, the sense of self important pride oozed from his very being like tar. She recoiled her psychic reach and couldn't stop the grimace from being etched across her face. "No, thank you. Honestly," A polite brush off. Sadly, he didn't seem to think so. A narrowed glare in her direction, a shrug of the shoulders with a low mumble of "Blonde bitch." Safe to say, the man in question very rapidly found that cheap cocktail over his not so cheap jacket.

"Oh come ON. We used to do this sort of thing all the time," Mina pleaded, tugging a little at her twin's arm. Home for some family event meant at least getting to take a long wander down memory lane, and spotting the old arcade brought back a number of good times along that. All she got was a roll of eyes for her trouble, although the tiny turn up at the very corner of his lips informed her she was not in for a lengthy battle. She stared at him, pleading in a silent manner she was certain only he could pick up on. "Don't do that." "What?" Silence as they both locked gazes, followed by small grins from both parties. Her twin gave a slightly defeated breath out. "... Only if the quarters are on you."
Stagfort, Oregon. Age 24.
Mina gave a deep sigh as she hooked up her labcoat, sticking her tongue out of the corner of her mouth as she unclipped her hair from it's messy bun, running her hands through it and ruffling it up into a rather unkempt mess. She didn't much care, seeing as she was the only one left in the lab after class. She gave a wide yawn, pausing to pull her phone out from the pocket of the hung up coat, frowning at the number of messages on screen. All from one person. She saw the name and rolled her eyes; She opted to ignore them JUST as the phone broke into it's ringtone. Mina considered cancelling the call, but gave a sigh and put it to her ear. "... H... Ho... HOLD ON," She managed to break through the other woman's frantic shouting, moving to pick up her text books, frowning irritably. "... Look, I don't mean to cut you off, but that's nothing to do with me. I'm not my brother's keeper, I-" More shouting. It was almost amusing, and Min a couldn't stop a small smile from flickering across her lips; He certainly knew how to pick them. "... Oh no... You're breaking up..." She didn't even bother to mimic the sounds of a phone crackling with static, instead simply cutting the call off with a tap of a finger. "... Oh Issac." She smiled softly; The poor guy was in for one heck of a woman on the warpath... Best she warn her twin to at least prepare some kind of apology. "Why do you always date the crazy ones..."
