This fucking school was so loud, with loud students, loud teachers, loud everything. It didnt help her headaches, or how shitty she was feeling. And it was impossible to find somewhere away from everyone. But when she poked her head around the door to the auditiorium, and she saw the wide expanse of seats with not a mutant in sight, her heart did a little back flip.
After having a little ninja like gaze around, she slipped into the dark room, pulling the door quietly shut before withdrawing her phone and using the torch navigated her way around. Finally Gwin came to settle between the rows of seats, sitting on the floor and nestling herself against the red velvet. The only light was her torch and that was enough.
The darkness was engulfing, and the silence eased her headache. Quietly she pulled out the long pale roll of marijuana and a lighter. With a slight smile she light the cigarette. The tip lit up with embers, and Gwin placed it to her lips. A long drag filled her lungs, and she settled back, exhaling the smoke, watched it plume into the air and dance in the dim light of her torch.
A feeling of calm slowly washed over her. Well that was the visions taken care of for a short while.
She should have been home already to be quite honest. Technically she shouldn't have been to the school at all. Today was supposed to have been a day off for the music teacher but then Gina panicked and remembered there were a few things she hadn't finished the day before. So she'd called and said she was coming in...and then ended up staying and teaching all her classes anyway. Gina enjoyed teaching, liked helping the students find an appreciation for music, even if it meant having to listen to someone playing off key until they got the hang of things. Gina had actually spotted Gwin slipping into the auditorium but was giving her something of a headstart.
She hadn't talked much to the young woman, but knew of her in passing and seeing her around the campus. Being a staff member meant she did her fair share of making sure the students stayed out of trouble (and she was a nosy nancy). So Gina finished up what she had been doing and then very slowly opened the door, slipping inside. If Gwin was paying attention, Gina knew that she would spot the door opening anyway. That wasn't so important though, after all the point was to make sure no trouble was happening and that the girl was okay anyway.
Gina's gaze wandered, catching on the faint glow of Gwin's phone and slowly headed in that direction.
Gwin hadn't anticipated being followed. After all, most lessons had finished. But the sudden sliver of light from the hall caught her attention. Moss eyes snapped up and she gasped, seeing the silhouette of a teacher shift towards her.
The girl grabbed her phone, fumbled to switch of the light, held the joint within her mouth, covered the glow with her hands.
Sge hunkered down, hoping the dimness of the room would be enough to protect her from any possible detection. She watched as the shadow of the woman shifted closer. "Shit..." She mumbled, before holding her breath. Please keep walking..
If it had been another administrator, perhaps they would have kept walking. Maybe thought they saw wrong and turned right back around. Not Gina though. Miss LaRoulle as she was known by at the school, had a particular little power that made hiding kind of useless. When Gwin spoke that little whisper, a small, but bright blue wave emitted from the area. Along with a few smaller multicolored waves at the movements of her hands and the phone. If the lights were on they might have gone unnoticed but here in the dark? They shone like a beacon.
Gina walked slowly, deliberately towards the area. As she mounted the steps the smell of pot smoke became more apparent. Her nose wrinkled a touch. She stopped and turned at the row where Gwin was trying to hide. "You know that is a fire hazard Miss Cooper." Gina spoke gently,in an accented English, giving away her Italian heritage. She was clear to understand though unless she was getting worked up. Then it was anyone's guess sometimes, especially if she started slipping into Italian.

Perfect. Gwin looked up at the Italian woman, eyes scorned with some inexplicable hatred for a woman she barely knew. Her hands came away from the joint, and she took a long, deliberate drag of it, letting the smoke seep slowly from her lips. "Oh no... A tiny little joint is going to set the whoooollle school on fire..." She drawled, sarcasm dripping on every word.
She took another puff of it, aiming the smoke at the teacher. She knew wit would probably be advisable to get rid of the joint now... But if she stopped, the effects wouldn't last long enough to keep the visions at bay.
So she just stared and smoked, running he r tongue along her dry lips between puffs
It took quite a lot to make Gina angry, especially when it came to the students. Her focus was on the sound waves, though she certainly wished she would manipulate the air itself. Instead, she side stepped just a touch to avoid the plume of smoke. "The great Chicago fire was started because a cow kicked over an unattended lantern." She countered simply, brown eyes lifting to look right into Gwin's.
"Aside that, it is clearly against school policy to do such things on Campus." She shrugged a touch and then sat down a seat over from her. "Why the auditorium?" Her eyebrow arched, though it may not be easy to see in the darkened room. Gina wasn't accusing Gwin of anything or seeming ready to completely reprimand her. She was curious about the young woman. Off the top of her head she didn't quite recall what her abilities were. Gina smoothed out her skirt, keeping her focus on Gwin, quiet and expecting.

Gwin groaned, rolling her eyes and resting her hand on her leg. "But this isn't a lantern, it's not unattended, and I'm not stupid." She almost growled, scraping her teeth over the cracked skin of her lip. She sucked in another breath of smoke, and brushed a long strand of hair from her face.
"Oh bullshit. The school rules are a load of bullshit... No one follows them" And then the woman sat down. "Aren't you gonna drag me to the principals office?" She asked, confused, but most certainly relieved. She wasn't overly bothered by being told off, she just could be bothered to deal with being shout at.
Ah questions. "It's quiet, and it's dark, and there isn't anyone else in here. A pause, and another drag. " Why do you care?"
"No one said you were." Gina looked ever so slightly amused, though noted that the blue of Gwin's voice was starting to change to a light purple. She maintained that hint of a smile as Gwin continued. "Well you claim that no one follows the rules. So if no one follows the rules, bringing you to the Principal would be a moot point- yes?" She turned the woman's words back on her.
She sighed softly and nodded. "I can appreciate that. I have a unique set of powers that allows me to see and manipulate sound waves. Even now as I talk I can see them - when you talk I see them...any sound." She explained. "Sometimes I need to be in a quiet, dark place as well." She agreed. "I'm merely curious, you're fairly new to Bellefonte yes?"

Oh god. Apparently this was one of those teachers who liked to screw others words around. Gwin scoffed a little, but there was maybe... just maybe... a tiny hint of a smile upon her lips. Gotta love someone who isnt afraid to bat of your own sarcasm. Finally she stubbed out the joint on the sole of her boot, and flicked the stubb into her bag.
The womans power sounded interesting; even maybe a little bit cool. Why did she get such a cool power, when all Gwin was stuck with was painful visions of the future, seizures and a whole load of crap. Wasnt luck a piece of shit. Gwin scoffed a little again, maybe even a little jelous of the woman. How much more simpler would life be if Gwin could just see sound? Lucky bitch...
"Yeah... Been here a few months..." And she still she hated it. And she was an addict (though of course she would never admit it... after all a few joints a day and the occasional hit of heroine wasnt exactly the definition of an addict... right?). Life at the school and life as a mutant was a pile of shit.
"Thank you Miss Cooper." Gina said with a touch of a smile and perhaps and perhaps some amusement. She made a mental note to look at Gwin's file later. Drug use wasn't an immediate sign of danger - especially weed. It would be a lie if she said she never dabbled in such things. Gwin would keep an eye on that. Once in a while were signs of just needing to unwind a little - she liked to think at least. More than that is when you had to start wondering if it was an escape.
"Tell me about your gifts?" She asked, always so polite and more on the soft spoken side naturally. She hardly ever raised her voice, though it was mostly selfish. She hated loud noises. No ability was without its drawbacks, some more severe than others of course. "And what you think of the school itself?" Feedback was always good, whether it be positive or negative. Gina was a curious thing, and liked to know how the students and the teacher felt about Bellefonte. Personally, she was always comparing it to St. Bethany's even though you really couldn't compare schools. They were completely different cultures and styles, but both had their pros and cons just like any place.

Gwin sighed just a little when she was thanked. She didn't get it. Why was the teacher not scolding her or trying to at least punish her. She tapped her long finger nail on the floor, maybe just a little nervously. She knew the question of her power was coming; it's all any one cared about here. In Gwins view, that's all anyone summed up to here; you were worth what your power was worth.
There was a long drawn out silence, a hand passing over her face. "My power doesn't matter." She said lowly, a hand going in to her bag to seek out another joint.
"That isn't true. Everyone's power matters, if only for the fact that it is a part of you now. Whether we like it or not, we cannot deny them or escape them." Gina tilted her head slightly as she regarded Gwin. "Nonetheless, I can respect you not wishing to speak about them. It is a very personal thing, and some are harder to explain than others." It would be in her file anyway. So, even if hearing it right from Gwin was ideal, Gina would get her answer either way.
"Tell me your thoughts on the school then. Good or bad, I like to know what the students are thinking." Gina nodded, eyes tracking the sound waves that emitted from her rustling around in the bag. She looked upwards as they disappeared on their ascent towards the ceiling. Then she focused back on Gwin.

"Trust me... the power doesnt matter." Came her voice again, lower this time, perhaps even a little enraged. And she could most certainly deny it, and she could escape it. Her hand found the joint it sought, and she pulled it out. A lighter suddenly appeared in her other hand, and in all but a few seconds, the joint was lit and in her mouth. Slowly she inhaled and exhaled, trying very hard not to get very very pissy.
There was another lapse of silence as she sucked in more and more smoke. "The schools a pile of shit." She mumbled, eyes lifting to meet with Gina's. "Its like any other school, only filled with freaks." Afterall, thats all they were, wasnt it. Freaks. Sideshow oddities, a theatre of freaks. Only they werent making money off of it. Stupid really. All the school needed to do was host some shows; people were always interested in the macarbe and odd, it would be a money maker.
Gina watched curiously, the pitch and tone of the sound waves from Gwin tinged with a hint of red. The colors didn't always mean the same thing for everyone. Sometimes the colors didn't help in figuring out anything. Gina tried not to read too much into the colors, but Gwin's body language and tone spoke volumes. The power was obviously a touchy subject, whatever it was. So she would skirt around it for now.
"I thought that way when I first came to school too." Gina said honestly. "Well, similarly at least. I was only 13, and my parents had me hand delivered to St. Bethany by our driver. They didn't even wait for me to be picked up." Sometimes sharing parts of ones life could help put people at ease. "No one wants these abilities, or asked for them. Perhaps to some we are freaks - but freaks are people too." She had a wry smile on her lips. "We're still human. We just have a little something extra. Everyone is entitled to their own outlook, their own opinion of everything. Those opinions don't matter. The only thing that matters is how you view yourself, and what you choose to do with your life."

Gwin rolled her eyes just a little when Gina let out a little snippet of her past. 'Our driver?' Oh great this woman was rich. She cleared her throat a little. "My mum didn't even come down to see me. We were never close. I left home when I was 16 and came down here to live with my friend." She went searching in her bag again. "She sent me a letter. I never opened it. I'm fairly sure I know what it's gonna say... I don't know why I carry it around."She held it out to Gina. "You can have it... Use it to stop a table from wobbling or something"
She inhaled again, exhaled, eyes following the plumes of pale smoke. "I shouldn't have my power. They said I had a dormant gene. But when the car hit me it kicked it into action or some bull shit like that. It was a drunk driver." Luck was a piece of bull shit. Gina seemed to be spewing some crap that Gwin wasn't interested in. " If your gonna preach some shit to me, please leavr me alone..."
