A blind date: Was this really what her life had come to? Somehow, one of her friends had thought she needed a little cheering up and while she didn't agree, getting out of the stuffed music room could do both her, and her muse some good.
Even now, standing outside the coffee shop, she could feel her restlessness grow: The only thing that ever seemed to settle it was music. Playing the piano - or practice the cello. It was the only thing that had ever helped - and now, so far away from the music room she could feel herself itching to go back.
She knew sorely little about her date: Only that he was a cop and her friend had lots of nice things to say about him. Though, knowing her friend, she'd forced his hand as much as she'd forced Naomi's. Wonderful. Exactly what she needed.
Rolling back on her heels, she closed her eyes as Ludwig van Beethoven's Piano Sonata No. 8 filled her restless mind through her earbuds.

Taylor didn't even want to date. Anyone. If pressed on the matter he'd insist it was due to his need to focus on his new career and recent relocation. How could he possibly be able to give someone else the needed attention when he had barely even managed to settle into a routine or gotten used to his new life as a police officer? It may not have been the whole truth, but it would be Taylor's story to stick to. His reluctance to entertain the idea of dating had nothing to do with still being hung up on a young woman who wasn't even around anymore.
And yet, here he was. Taylor had gotten off work that morning, went home and slept for a few hours before heading out to meet this girl a mutual friend insisted he'd like. Whether or not that insistence was for his benefit or theirs Taylor couldn't be sure.
He stifled a yawn as he strode along the sidewalk heading toward the designated meeting place. He spotted a woman standing outside the coffee shop who matched the description he'd been given. She wasn't paying much attention, rather she seemed focused on whatever was coming through the earbuds she wore. Taylor took the moment to look her over. She was cute, as advertised, which was a good start. He waved a hand to try and get her attention once he'd gotten close enough. "Uh, Naomi?" He asked curiously.
