Wes smiled widely when Alex finally relented. He wasn't going to push. Although if Prue caught wind that he was helping a troubled student, she was going to insist he do it well and good. Best not to let her know. It was unlikely that Alex and Prue would even know each other, right?
He held his hands up and stood to his full height. "Contrary to popular belief, I'm not the pushy one. We'll go at your pace. Whenever you want. I'm assuming you're good at numbers so I'll give you mine and I hope you actually use it." He listed his number and nodded.
"Alright, little monster. I'll see you around." He gave her a two finger salute and dropped off the side of the building, concentrating hard so the ground was malleable for his impact. He landed one on knee and stood up. Oh yes, Wes Archer was definitely a show off.

She asked the same question from earlier but in a much...nicer way. He had to give her points for that and he smiled. "I'll give you my honest answer because I expect honesty from you too."
He squatted so they were eye level and he smirked. "You're gorgeous. It's a mechanism for guys to want to help beautiful women. Hell, it's just an ingrained mechanism to help beautiful women." He pulled a "What can you do" look complete with hand gesticulation.
"And because I know people like you. It's never good to leave people like you to deal with shit alone."

An eyebrow raised on Wes' face and he looked down at the woman. It was classic lashing out and it wasn't like he didn't get this every damn day training the little monsters. She was just older. And has had a lot more time to stew on the misery. And judging by her earlier response, she'd had to do it alone.
He kept quiet and let her continue. Her continuation didn't appease him either so he sighed and got up. "Alright then. I'm not pushing because I don't know you that well. But we're in the same school. We have a shared compound. We're bound to run into each other again and I'm going to ask you how you are every time." He slipped his hands into his pockets and looked down at her.
"And one more thing, I'll be the judge of what's worth my time or not, yeah?"

Wes wasn't equipped with the tools to help students mentally. He'd been assigned to work on abilities. He was good at that. He may not be as good with the personal aspect of it, but he helped in any way he could. And Alex was someone he could and wanted to help.
When she clammed up, he took a deep breath and shook his head. "I didn't ask you to stop." He responded. "You don't have to talk to me obviously but you can." He shrugged.

This happenstance took a turn for the serious and Wes realised that he had a class to go back to. He gave a cursory glance to his watch and cursed under his breath. Alex didn't seem the type to be this open with anyone and Wes enjoyed her company, what little he had had with her.
And if this wasn't a clear cry for help, Wes didn't know what was.
He ran his fingers through his drenched hair and looked at Alex with a raised eyebrow. "Don't make friends?" He asked, connecting the dots. "I didn't think you would. But you do have someone to talk to about this, don't you?"

"Ew." He snorted and shook his head. He wasn't about to continue talking about porn with a student. Although, the fact that she had been so clinical about it made it funnier than it actually was.
Wes winced at her response, having already predicted the answer. She was kind enough to be truthful though so props to her.
"Ever considered befriending a suppressor?" He asked. "I'm assuming you don't sleep much."

The question had Wes chuckling before shaking his head. "I live my truth. Got nothing to hide." He responded. And whatever he needed hidden couldn't be traced through his phone.
When she mentioned websites, Wes gave her a grin. "Cheeky. Ever stumble across horse porn?" He asked with a chuckle. "You still don't have control over it?" He asked, his voice laced with concern.

Despite the fact that he had just met this woman two minutes ago, knowing her ability did sort of explain her a little better than talking ever could. His abilities shaped him in a way that life didn't. He loved his abilities, however. He liked how it literally kept him grounded.
"Well, this is the best place to be for that." Wes shrugged. He was of the mind that nobody in this school was even close to sane. The ones who were, were fooling themselves.
Abilities messed people up. Hormones messed adolescents up. It would take a miracle for any of them to come out of this unscathed.

Her actual ability blew his mind and he winced at the repercussions of having such an ability. His own made him deathly afraid of earthquakes, he couldn't begin to try and empathise having to deal with billions of voices in his head.
"Jesus Christ that's heavy." He breathed. "How are you not in a coma right now?" He tried to joke, though he realised it was in poor taste only when he finished saying it.

The short answer relieved him, which meant he won't have to train her. Not that he wouldn't want to spend more time with her but having to do it while wanting to know her on a more intimate level was going to jeopardise things.
He suppressed those thoughts and whacked himself mentally for even thinking it. He then decided to concentrate on the rest of her explanation. "Some form of kinesis then?" He asked.

"Oh yeah, they lap it up like soup." Wes nodded. It was a laughable notion that she thought he had that attitude. Prue would approve of this girl.
Wes noticed the way she seemed to tighten up before she switched off her phone and he raised an eyebrow. He decided to concentrate on her next words with a smirk. "Isn't it? I'm so glad someone noticed. I've just been running around with scissors hoping I don't nick anyone in the head with them."
Finding out that she was a student had him sighing. "You don't have a physical power do you?"

Rolling his eyes, he sat up again and resumed his earlier position, leaning against the wall. "I bet your friends love when you tell them how right you actually are, eh." He smirked.
Her question made him snort. "Fuck no. And ruin this body? No, no. I'm a trainer here." He answered. "That lot are ridiculous when they're at that age." He shivered as his fingers skirted over the bulge of his cigarette box in his pocket.
He still wanted to smoke but less so than when he first got on the roof. "How about you then, still a monster?"

He made a non-committal noise when Alex called him pushy. He could have said the same about her. He took the earpiece and stuck it in his ear before weaving his fingers between each other and placed his joined hands over his stomach.
As the music began, Wes found himself in an empty field on a clear day, much in the same position as he was in now. The air smelled sweet and a soft breeze pushed through his hair, tickling his forehead and ears.
Beside him, a girl in a light blue dress lay, her fingers tracing lazy patterns on the back of his hand. He couldn't see her face but a smile curved on his lips.
He might not understand what Alex personally felt but the song transported him to a peaceful place. His peaceful place.
When the song ended, he took the earpiece out and handed it back to Alex. "Mm." He hummed. He wasn't a poet, he didn't have the words to describe how he felt but somehow, he knew Alex could understand what he meant by that one small noise.

As she spoke, Wes listened. After years of living with Prue, he'd gotten quite good at it. This chick was intense too. In a rather different way than his baby sister, but he could see the same passion and emotion in this woman.
He smiled and held one hand out to her. "Alright then. Play it back from the beginning. Let me see if I can feel it too." He responded before lying on his back, closing his eyes and letting the rain fall all over him.
His hand was still up, curling close and open repeatedly as a gesture for Alex to hurry. "Come on then. I've got to get back to the monsters soon."

Wes watched the girl as she defended the music. His eyes narrowed slightly as a counter argument built in him before he decided against it. He decided he didn't see a point to it.
"I can't very well take it back, love. It's out there." Wes waved his hand vaguely in the air and smirked slightly. "It's definitely a lot different than most of the new songs out now. And I do like my mellow music. So yes, it's very nice." He reiterated with a shrug.
"Tell me what you think about Hozier in the rain, then."
