all the world has gone to bed
Clarke looked at Natalie and a warm smile spread across her face as she grabbed her best friend's hand, all bets off. She'll have to deal with the consequences later, her friend needed the comfort, she presumed, so she was going to give it to her as much as she could.
It couldn't be easy for Natalie to be telling her all this so all Clarked wanted to do was be a listening ear.
"Lena as in...the dancer Lena? She's the one you said invited us to that club, right?"

Clarke snorted and pulled her plate away from her as she laughed at Natalie's joke. "Nat, seriously." She elbowed her best friend playfully as she continued eating.
When Natalie insisted on how pretty the female lead was, Clarke was about to agree again when Natalie continued with her line of thought. Clarke turned and gave her a curious smile. "Oh?" She said before it dawned on her. "Wait...Nat, are you coming out to me?"
Clarke moved the plate to the table and grabbed the remote to pause the movie. "Are you just realising this? Or have you known for a long time?"

"Ooh," Clarked marveled as she continued to eat. She turned when Natalie agreed to teach her how to cook. She smile brightly and nodded. "Okay. I'll let you know when I have free time. That is...not your bed time." She chuckled lightly.
As the movie wore on, Clarke was drawn to the female lead's assistant, finding her humour much needed in the plot. Natalie's remark had her turning to the female lead and giggled lightly. "She kinda looks like you. So yeah, she is very pretty." Clarke commented.

Raising both her eyebrows at the suggestion, Clarke laughed as she agreed. "Yeah, sure." She grinned as she pulled her legs up and tucked them under her, setting the plate on her lap and taking a bite out of it.
"Ooh, what is this spice I'm tasting?" She asked as she took another bite. "You've got to teach me how to cook, Nat. I don't think I can stress that enough."
As the opening scene began on TV, Clarke leaned back on the couch and settled in.

When asked what she wanted to watch, Clarke chewed the inside of her cheeks and chuckled. "Why don't we watch something super powered? And then we can poke fun at the inaccuracies of most of them?" She said, only half joking.
She had avoided superhero shows and movies after she found out she had them. She didn't know why she had but somehow, watching something that might resemble her actual life seemed a bit dodgy when she first discovered her own powers.
Now, she was a lot more comfortable with it so maybe they should just rip the band aid off.

She opened the door and was immediately attacked by the two dogs. Laughing, she petted them both as she pulled them in to close the door. "Hey guys!" She greeted them and squatted down on the floor to let them lick her face. It was just too good and warm being here, she couldn't help being happy stepping into the apartment.
"I feel so loved coming here." She giggled and stood back up to walk over to where Natalie was. She took one plate and moved over to the couch after squeezing her arm lightly. Sober, touches were a little scarce coming from Clarke.
"So! What are we watching today?" Clarked asked as she settled on to the couch with the animals by her feet, sniffing at her food.

Clarke blinked when Lux mentioned furbies. "No way." She whispered conspiratorially. She leaned over the bar, her eyes wide. "Did you know that they're evil?" She asked before leaning back in her stool and popping more nuts into her mouth.
Her bowl was almost empty and an ache started in the back of her head. "Oh no...the headache." It travelled fast and soon enough, Clarke was nursing her head in her hand as her elbow was propped on the bar top.
"Boy am I glad I live near here." She said as she closed her eyes. "I should go." She fished a few notes out from her pocket and handed it over to Lux and gripped the bar top before sliding off the stool. She took one last gulp of water and turned to Lux.
"You've been a very good listener." She grinned and made finger guns at her bartender. "Pew pew. Bye bye."

It seemed like forever since she last saw Natalie and when she got the text from her best friend, she perked up and immediately said yes, not really seeing anything wrong with the lack of a movie mention.
After second and third thoughts, Clarke decided to bring an overnight bag. Just in case. Everything she needed for her morning and night routines could fit in one toiletries bag because like most of her life, Clarke compartmentalises all the essentials.
Once she arrived, she could already smell the goodness coming from within and even before she knocked on the door, she could hear a bark from inside. Clarke grinned and knocked lightly.

While Lux made the effort to broaden her horizons in her formidable years, Clarke had spent it in isolation. Creature of habit didn't even begin to describe her. Hermit was probably a better definition of how Clarke spent her youth.
The redhead oohed at the peanuts, taking a few and popping them into her mouth. "I like nuts. Like...all kinds of nuts. You know the name, I like 'em."
If Clarke had sobriety, she would have felt sorry for Lux. Because she didn't, she happily continued to ramble on, stating the names of nuts she liked.

An affectionate smile curved on to Clarke's lips when Lux seemed to understand the situation. She really did feel appreciative of someone who didn't let her feel down on herself. Natalie was really good at that too. She also had the animals backing her up.
"I did not. Perks of living close to everything that matters." She perked up as she took long sips of her water. "It's why I like to come to this bar so much." Clarke confessed beforr hurriedly adding, "And you. You're good people."

She lightly chuckled as she drank more from her glass of water. She didn't expect Lux to suddenly get serious. Clarke straightened up and blinked at her new companion.
"Oh...wait no...I mean...it's not that I...I've got a healthy sense of self don't get me wrong." She laughed. "It was a joke, I swear." She held her hands up in defense. It was sweet that Lux got defensive over it, though.
"Okay...you should cut me off." She said as she finished her water. She was in no condition to walk yet though so she was going to stay and hydrate before venturing out by herself. "One last glass of water." Clarke nodded determinedly.

Glad not to have to rely on her hands to hold her glass, Clarke leaned over the bar and took long sips of her water. The cool liquid ran down her throat and eased some discomfort she had been feeling.
The redhead smiled widely, though with a hint of shyness at the compliment. She was still trying to process compliments towards her as a whole. This was quite a huge step, even if it did take her getting drunk to not be weird about it.
"Ooh, night's still young." She teased. "Wink, wink."
She waved a dismissive hand and chuckled. "I'm just kidding. I'd never hit on someone out of my league." She snorted. She'd never hit on anyone. Period. But Lux didn't have to know that Clarke was a socially anxious weirdo with just one close friend.

Clarke gratefully accepted the water and took slow sips. She was going to regret tonight so much tomorrow.
At Lux's response, Clarke nodded, happy that her new friend wasn't uncomfortable. That was another thing that stopped her from doing something like this as a career. She received enough from some of the men she worked with but to have to deal with it when the customer had unspoken rights was just bonkers.
She briefly applauded Lux for having thicker skin than she did. Internally. Maybe. She didn't really have much control over her motor skills right then.
"Could I get a straw for this?" She asked, gesturing to the glass of water. "Oh am I glad I don't have work today." She sighed with a blissful smile. "Also, you're really good at this. I wouldn't want to have to deal with me like this practically every day. That's bonkers."

Clarke pursed her lips and bit the inside of her cheek before nodding at Lux when she offered water. She looked down at her watch and snorted.
"Oh yes, a drink would be phenomenal right now."
Her hand inched towards the glass before she tipped it over. "Do people harrass you here? Lux?" Clarke asked, a tinge of concern colouring her tone.
