It was an unfair question, he realized. He'd hated it when he'd been in high school. It was as if everyone expected you to attend college and make something of yourself. And somehow, somewhere along the line, he'd become one of those people.
He didn't expect a serious answer from her. It seemed she was more keen on throwing shit his way, which was fine, rather than offer anything personal. But then she did and Isaac couldn't help the small smile that formed on his lips.
"Then why don't you?"

While Isaac would never go as far as call himself insecure about anything, there was something about showing off his writing that struck a chord. He did it for class, naturally, but never anything he wrote in private. It was always something he'd prepared for an assignment.
Hands slid into his pockets and his lips turned downward. "I'm writing a story about a woman taming fires for a living. She's very curious and the two rarely goes well together." He turned to look at her, his head tilting. "She's also nearing her thirties and it's starting to show."

A small smile formed on the blonde's lips at that. He knew the girl Carter was talking about and for a moment, he was tempted to pretend that he didn't. But it would have been unfair to Carter.
"Yeah, I know her." He mused. "I helped her pick out one of her outfits." He considered her for a moment: He had to agree. While the offer had been extended more than once, McKenna did strike him as a sister type, too, rather than someone he'd actively try to get under the sheets with.
"And here I was hoping you'd mention one of my sisters." He slanted a look at the other blonde and shrugged. He could always hope, right?

Her snarky comment earned her a chuckle. "Yeah, I could tell." He said, looking at her over his shoulder. He'd never seen someone thrive quite that much that wasn't going for it professionally. And even then, he doubted most of them actually enjoyed getting their asses beat to a pulp every day.
"What are you doing for college?" He asked. She didn't strike him as the kind of person who had a long term plan. That was fine, really. He didn't either and he was doing rather alright for himself.

A simple smile was all he offered at her joke: It was fairly obvious that his point hadn't hit home quite as he'd hoped, but it didn't really matter. He wasn't prideful enough to really let it, he realized. It was quickly made clear that the focus of their conversation was meant to be on him and the blonde simply huffed at that.
"Not much." He admitted with ease. "But it does make me a better writer." At least there was that. His schooling was sharpening his ability to write. It made him more aware of his weaknesses.
Pushing off the ground, Isaac stood. He brushed some grass off of his pants and stretched his arms. "I've started it. Might as well finish."

Holding his arms up, as if to prove his innocent intentions, he grinned. "You got it, boss."
Isaac pushed off the wall and slid his hands into his pockets. While he was disappointed she hadn't taken his arm, he was pleased she'd agreed to spend her precious time with him. That was a win by his book.
With that, the blonde started moving. He didn't give her the satisfaction by looking back to see if she was following. He simply assumed that she was. "So." He mused. "How's senior year treating you?" He asked; While he knew the particular group of students that had been playing hadn't been college students, he could only make an educated guess.

It was such an odd thing to imagine that it had him stopping in his tracks. And it made him wonder what a girl had to do - or look like to be considered 'a sister-type'.
If Carter had meant to make him curious, he'd succeeded, because within seconds, he found himself seated by the blonde once more.
"Do pray tell."

"See, this is why you're the brains, and I'm the beauty." He stood then, hands sliding into his pockets as he looked at the man who'd only seconds before been sitting right next to him. Even Isaac couldn't help the grin on his face.
"Let's not invite the she-devil, though." He said. "I'd rather not compete for your attention more than I already have to - or watch her murder our entire party." Without waiting for a response, Isaac started moving, his hand raising to offer the other blonde a wave.
"Ta-ta!"

He couldn't help the grin that spread across his lips at that. She was like no one he'd ever met before and it was thrilling. Had Isaac been anyone else, he might have fallen to his knees and vowed his everlasting low right there.
"If that's what you're into, sure." He said, offering her a shrug. He offered her his arm once more, not ready to give up just yet: She could toss whatever snark she had in her at him, but he'd already made up his mind.
"Take a chance on me, Spitfire. You might find yourself surprised."

Isaac could relate to what the blonde was saying on more levels than one. Of course, while he had a few friends here and there, he knew that there was little point in feeling bad about having few friends. He wasn't the easiest person to get along with - and he'd never pretended to be, either.
"Hm." He simply mused. "Guess we'll just have to invite a couple of non-friends then." He stretched his arms above his head before shrugging. "Or go on a roadtrip. Just the two of us." He wouldn't have minded either way. While the prospect of getting down and dirty in the woods was preferable, he didn't think spending some quality time with the one guy he'd consider a friend to be a bad thing either.

"Mina." He said simply. Really, that was his only reason for staying. He'd spent his entire life by her side and he wasn't quite sure he was ready to break that connection yet. Even if it was hard for either of them to explain exactly what that connection was.
A chuckle fell from his lips as he joined her down on the ground. He brushed some grass away from his pants before settling. "Yes, one would think." He mused, closing his eyes. "We get assignments. A set of rules to follow. If we don't follow them correctly, or don't use proper grammar, we lose points." It was tedious at best, but it did make him a better writer.
"How do they teach you to extinguish a flame?" He countered. "Don't you just do it?"

He considered that for a moment before he grimaced. "You might enjoy the smell of earth and dirt, but I don't." No, he'd much rather prefer the comforts of staying inside a tent where all the insects and poison ivy wouldn't get him. "Or we could rent a cabin." He continued, pondering.
Of course, all the planning in the world would be moot unless they managed to find people to join them. He offered the blonde a sidelong glance. "Why don't you have any friends?"
Though, he could have asked himself the same thing.

"People trying to be friends with you." Of course, there was people who claimed they didn't need friends, but humans were social by nature.
"I once ready that if you deny a newborn baby human touch, it'll die." He continued. "You can give it everything else it needs, but if its human needs aren't properly filled, it'll cease to exist." He didn't think she would really care, but it was food for thought.
He offered her his arm then. "Let's go for a walk."

"I don't." He said, shrugging as if it didn't really matter if he did or not. That wasn't a problem for now. He could deal with that later. Besides, he couldn't very well go camping by himself, so it would have been a waste of his time to get a tent beforehand.
He looked at the other blonde, eyebrows raised in question. "Do you?"

"I suppose you're right." He said, waving a hand in the air as if the thought hadn't ever crossed his mind. It had, though, he was simply glad she was actually talking to him. He supposed he'd consider that a win.
"Is that such a bad thing, though?" He asked her then. She was a curiosity, a conundrum.
