After three days of radio silence, Lena decided it was a long enough time for her to find Natalie to talk to her again. She did away with texts or phone calls because those just felt completely impersonal, especially when handling such a delicate matter like this.
Admittedly, Lena still didn't know where she went wrong. All she knew was she wanted her friend back.
But Natalie had gone AWOL from the yoga studio and Lena wasn't dumb enough to corner her where she didn't have the option to leave. So she had resorted to stalking the other woman and ended up running down the beach where Natalie liked to run. One whole week of running down there and bupkiss. Either Natalie didn't run there anymore or the other woman was just very aware of when Lena was going to be around.
Either way, it wasn't good for Lena.
Her anxieties kicked in and she missed her friend. It was a deadly combo which resulted in a lot of random strangers in her bed. It wasn't healthy, she was sure of that, but she didn't know any better.
She was about to give up hope one day when she saw very familiar dogs running around a very familiar woman. She picked up her pace with the pups picking up speed as well. They blew her cover as they yipped at the bigger dogs to alert their presence.
"Nat!" She called out just as she managed to catch up to the other woman.

Natalie's brush off was made clear and a moment after she went to her room, the pups came trotting out, still sleepy but curious as to what went down. Lena couldn't do anything but grab her things and go.
She was going to let Natalie cool down before she tried to talk to her again. There was no way she was going to lose her friendship with Natalie but she knew when to call it quits and so she did.
After leashing Jude and Johnny and encasing Leo in his bag, the Aussie left the apartment and went home.

Natalie's observation would have made Lena laugh had the situation not being wrought with tension. She had gotten out of bed because she didn't want to be around Natalie with morning breath.
Now, it would just sound like a shallow excuse so she kept quiet.
"Natalie, I don't want you to think that what we did last night was a drunken mistake because while yes admittedly, we were drunk, it wasn't a mistake. I have wanted to do this since I met you. How I am about whatever arrangement I happen to have with other people shouldn't cheapen that."
Lena wanted to close the gap between them when Leo slinked around Lena's ankle, stopping her from moving. She pursed her lips and bent down to pick the kitten up. She looked back at Natalie, suddenly scared that this was the end of the conversation.
"I'm sorry, Natalie. I don't know how to remedy this situation. I just hope you don't think that I took advantage of you last night."

The moment Natalie moved away, Lena realised that whatever she wanted to start with Natalie was over. She let the brunette speak and when she posed the question, Lena couldn't help but feel a sting.
"Natalie," she called to her friend, her tone clearly indicating how hurt she was by the accusation. "If that was all I wanted, I would have left before you woke up."
This was definitely going the way she had expected but it didn't hurt any less. She stood up to approach Natalie.

When Natalie finally responded, it wasn't with the full strength of conviction that Lena believed the other woman actually believed what she was saying. She turned to face Natalie and gingerly reached out to take her hand.
"Natalie, I won't lie to you, that much I can assure you. If you're okay with that, I want you to know that I want this. Us." She gestured the space between them before looking at Natalie's face for any signs.
"And I will leave if that's what you want."

Lena shook her head, even though she was still unsure how this conversation was going to end. As she looked at Natalie, a small twinge of guilt settled in the pit of her stomach.
She walked back to the bed and sat on the edge, patting the space beside her. "Last night...whatever I remembered, was really great but...I didn't get to tell you what I usually tell my partners?"
This was already starting out a little bad but Lena stuck to it. There's no reason for her to not get it out.
"Full disclosure, you're not the only one I've been sleeping with. I'm seeing a few other people but...like not...we're not a couple. It's...strictly sex."
She looked up at Natalie with a sheepish smile. "I would have told you last night but we hit the booze a little hard."

The pups and Leo were still snoring away, unfazed by all the moving and the sounds. It was a good thing for Lena because she liked to sleep in.
"Yeah. It's nice waking up with a person beside me instead of just the animals." She chuckled, tying up her hair in a messy ponytail. She walked over to Natalie, slipping her arms around the other woman's waist and kissed the back of her shoulder.
"Hey, can we talk?" The redhead asked after a beat. She was suddenly very nervous, something she didn't often feel around Natalie.

She was done brushing her teeth when she heard Natalie calling out. "Morning." The Aussie responded a small smile on her face. She zipped up her toiletries bag and opened the door to find Natalie on the other side covered in her blanket.
She looked down at her own bare body and gave Natalie a cheeky grin before moving towards the clothes she had abandoned from last night. Pulling them on, she turned to Natalie. "Have a good sleep?" She asked before approaching her to give her a peck on her cheek.

Had she been just a little bit more sober, Lena would have had the sense to let Natalie know what she would have to expect. Or not expect from this. She would happily give into her urges with anybody but she always wanted her partners to know where she was at.
But she wasn't sober and things were just getting good. Tomorrow was going to be another think coming.

Waking up with a familiar scent so close to her nose was comforting but Lena did not feel like she was in a familiar place. Her legs were tangled in the sheets while her hand was wrapped around a warm body. She opened her eyes and saw Natalie tastefully covered by her pets while Lena had Leo's butt in her face.
Licking her lips, she carefully got up, letting her hand drag across Natalie's bare stomach. She pulled her knees up to her chest and pressed the heel of her palm against her browbone, groaning at the buzzing in her head.
She turned to look at Natalie who was still sleeping peacefully. God she was really beautiful, wasn't she? Lena couldn't help but lean down to press her lips against Natalie's.
Sighing, she got out of bed, careful not to kick Johnny out as she tip toed out of the room to grab her toiletries bag to start washing up.

With a small smile, Lena pulled Natalie closer, tilting her head slightly to the side to deepen the kiss. Lena was thoroughly enjoying the soft lips on hers and now that the animals were elsewhere, it made things a lot easier to maneuver.
In hindsight, Lena supposed she should have prefaced this with the fact that she was sleeping with someone else. But would it even matter? It wasn't like her and Damian were together.
Maybe that was for later.
She let her fingers run through Natalie's soft hair, catching it at her neck as she swung her leg over Natalie's, straddling her. "Is this okay?" She asked.

She pulled away after Natalie did and licked her lips. The question brought forth a smile and a shrug before Lena responded.
"Admittedly not as smooth as I thought I was but um...I've wanted to know what that felt like since we met. I just...didn't think you'd have appreciated it back then."
It sounded a little callous said out loud but Lena had always just been curious. They'd developed such a familiarity with each other that Lena couldn't help but want to step into the next phase with Natalie.
It just seemed like the most natural progression.
"Unless...you don't want this. I'll stay in my lane if you don't. Just say the word."

Lena had never really held back on her emotions. Not even when the situation called for it. She didn't like being blocked up by her emotions. Mostly because she didn't like the possible outcomes of repression. She would either rage, or cry. She often said what she felt and let her emotions call the shots. She was lucky she had a profession that allowed her that freedom.
Some others aren't so lucky. Some get too jaded by life and hid behind walls. Often times, Lena would serve as a wrecking ball if she wanted to. She often wanted to.
She leaned in and let her hand slide down Natalie's neck. "I feel the same way," she sighed before moving in to press her lips against Natalie's, just a gentle brush as she gauged the other woman's reactions.

When the animals dispersed, Lena grimaced when she realised she had caused the upset. Her attention then focused back on the trainer and how vulnerable she looked. Her free hand moved to push the hair that had fallen into Natalie's face.
"If it makes you feel better, you're not the only one who thinks that. I swear, it's a lot easier if sleeping around wasn't so looked down upon. Sex is easy. Understanding a person takes too much time." Lena said. "I know I said I'm a sucker for romance, and I am but like...real life romance is hard to come by, you know?"

Lena could hear a shift in Natalie's tone and she couldn't help but straighten up to look at the other woman. She gently plucked her pets off her and put them on the floor before pulling her legs up to curl under her.
She took Natalie's hand and slipped her fingers through hers, dragging her thumb up and down against the other woman's skin.
"You don't know what you're looking for?" Lena asked.

Her pets had dozed off in her lap halfway through the bingeing but Lena was still wide awake. Her glass had found its way to the table and she was pleasantly buzzed.
With Natalie's head on hers, Lena wrapped her arms around the other woman's mid-section and chuckled at her comment. "I am if it's as well-developed as theirs. I don't actually like the grand gestures and flowery bullshit. I'm more of a spanning years kind with subtle overtures over time until they're caught up in a moment where they can't deny their feelings kinda gal." She chuckled.
Her fingers slipped under Natalie's top to skim the skin underneath. She cuddled closer to Natalie, careful not to jostle the animals. "How about you?"
