♦ THE ABILITY ♦

POWER: Reactive Adaption.
Lux can instantly develop "powers" or "abilities" to deal with threats and her body dynamically learns from experience. The effects are always temporary, but some can stay longer than others, all depending on the amount of change; Emotional changes tend to last longer than physical ones. Basically, her ability works like that after combat, her skin will grow tougher and be able to sustain more damage, after a difficult test, she will experience an increased IQ, or something as simple as fortified emotions after a personal argument.

LIMITATIONS:

• Lux is generally not able to turn off or on her ability, or control what it adapts into. It just happens.
• Learning some adaptations usually prevents or negates other adaptations, like for example learning to breathe underwater may prevent breathing air.
• She is not invincible as there are certain threats that are impossible to adapt to. The stronger the threat/attack, the more trouble she will have adapting to it.

SIDE-EFFECTS:

• Nausea, burning pains over the skin, muscle pains and stiffness. General pain and aches.
• Intense headaches and migraines that can cause temporary amnesia and insomnia. Can also cause extreme fatigue and fainting.
• The ability puts a lot of strain on the body and its immune system, which leaves Lux getting sick easily; Basically, illnesses is the only thing her ability cannot adapt to, because it's left so vulnerable due to all the rapid changes.

HEIGHT: 5'2".
HAIR COLOR: Brown.

MISC: She has a tattoo of two birds on the side of her neck and a quote saying "amor vincit omnia" under her left breast.

PERSONALITY: Lux is gentle and loyal and would go to great lengths to ensure her loved ones' safety and happiness - even if that means to sacrifice her own. Lux wears her heart on her sleeve - she cares deeply and passionately. She's somewhat shy, but still manages to be fierce in the things she's passionate about.

She's the kind of person most people would see as weak. She's used to people coddling her and treating her like a piece of glass that's easily broken. She isn't, though she doesn't see the point in telling people they're wrong. As long as it makes her friends happy, right?

Her ability makes her afraid of letting people too close. She doesn't want to put them through the same thing she went through with her deceased mother; the pain of losing someone like that isn't something she'd wish on anyone.

SECRET(S): Although Lux would never say so out loud, she's terrified of dying. Even more so, she's terrified she won't ever have accomplished anything before then.

♦ THE HISTORY ♦

Born and raised in Kalispell, Montana, Lux was born to two mutant parents, so she always figured she'd join their ranks and one day, attend Bellefonte Academy. Her parents were somewhat worried, though, hoping their young daughter wouldn't end up with the same affliction as her mother; she did, at the age of eleven and Luxanna's life suddenly took a drastic turn.

She remained at home (for the most part) while attending the school; it was easier that way. She could still be around her mother and help as much as she could while training and trying to figure out what she wanted to make of her potentially shorter life.

School was nice - she managed to break out of her shell some and make friends - most of which learned about her ability and did everything they could to shelter her from the pain. It didn't really work, though she didn't tell them that, of course. It seemed to make them happy and that was good enough for her.

There was one person, though, that forever changed Luxanna's view on things; He didn't treat her like a broken toy. He intrigued her, pushed her limits and made her madder than she'd ever felt before. He made her stronger.

Right around the time that Bellefonte Academy announced that they were moving to a different state, her mother's illness took a drastic turn and within weeks, she died. Her family then relocated along with the school in hopes that a new scenery would make things easier for all of them.

Having to graduate a year later than her peers, due to all the classes she'd missed because of her ability, Luxanna was torn between trying to figure out which college courses to pick, and wondering if there was really any point to it.

With much guidance and support from her father, Luxanna eventually decided she needed a break from Bellefonte Academy. She enrolled one of Stagfort's local colleges and started working as a bartender at night and a waitress during the day when school didn't keep her too busy.
