Surprisingly, getting back to normal wasn't that difficult. Olivia was a lot less inhibited with her interactions with Teddy. She took Teddy's words to heart about not being so analytical about what she wanted and it did ease most of her worries overall. Frankly, confessing her feelings for Teddy had been the ticket to being completely comfortable with herself.
It didn't, however, stop her from being mortified the next time she saw Emmett though. The threat of Emmett stealing Teddy from her still loomed over her head but she knew making a decision about a potential future with Teddy should not be based on a threat, no matter how plausible it was to be executed. She wanted to be with Teddy on her own volition.
When the weekend finally came, Olivia decided that it had been enough time for her to really figure out what she wanted to do regarding what she and Teddy could have. With that in mind, she went over to Teddy's office and knocked on her door gingerly before entering. "I hope I'm not interrupting."

For Teddy, work had always been a paramount part of her life. As such, she was incredibly grateful that the conversation and revelation between herself and Olivia didn't disrupt the way she worked during the week. As they bordered on the weekend, Teddy stared at the device in her hands, thumbs tapping away at message to the volley of them she'd been receiving lately.
But a body was moving towards her door, and her flawless peripheral vision had her looking up before the door opened. Here was the familiar face that often confused her these days. She greeted her mere presence with a smile; one warmer than what she would usually dare offer any other paralegal who made their way into her office.
"No no, you're fine. Come on in." She said, leaving the device on the desk before her.

Olivia reciprocated the warm smile as she closed the door behind her and trekked over to the chair opposite Teddy. She sat down with an ease that wasn't present last week, despite the tumultuous emotions just brimming on the surface.
She noted Teddy putting her phone down, something which Olivia had always found so thoughtful. She smiled as her teeth sank into her bottom lip.
"I was hoping you'd be free for dinner tonight. I...want to ask you out on a date." She finally said, surprisingly with no tremor in her voice. Little wins.

It was nice to be able to sit together and not have it be incredibly awkward. That was one of the things Teddy had carried a shallow worry about; she hadn't expected it, but it was still holding onto a piece of her mind as a potentially irrational fear. It only took a day to shake it completely. Now, she was happily settled into her former self.
Not a single shake to her tone of voice despite the idle pause she had to tuck into her words. Colour Teddy impressed. "I am free, and I'd probably say yes to that." She admitted with ease.
"Let me guess." She started, eyes slightly narrowed on the target in her own amusement, "The usual place? Usual time?"

"Probably," Olivia chuckled lightly as her lips settled into a smile. The relief she felt was quite insurmountable but she managed to keep it in check. So she had a date with her boss. And it wasn't a big deal.
When asked about the venue and time, Olivia had to laugh and shake her head. "I think a change of pace would be nice for a first date, don't you think?" She asked. "There's a new fusion cooking class tonight that I thought would be interesting. So long as you don't mind getting your hands dirty."
She figured it would be an experience, doing something with their hands instead of just a sit down dinner, which was what they already did weekly.

With her assumptions proven wrong, Teddy had to admit surprise over what Olivia had offered. She should have expected that she would plan something unconventional. "Not at all. I actually really like to cook, when I get the time to do it." Ridiculous hours at the office didn't make that hobby remotely easy.
She remembered instantly the first time they had dinner together. She recalled how Olivia spoke of all the things she did to try and challenge herself. "I'm grateful you'd include me in your plans to consistently try something new." When she broke it down like that, it actually made sense.

Pushing her hair over to her other shoulder, Olivia nodded, glad Teddy was agreeable to the idea. "Alright. I'll come around your house at eight later? Or should I pick you up here?" She asked. Frankly, she wouldn't be surprised if the other woman wanted to fit in as much work before going out.
She stood up, trying hard not to make her excitement too obvious as she looked over at Teddy. "I'll see you later." She smiled, biting her lower lip to quell the chuckle.

Weighing up her options, Teddy gave herself grace to consider which would end up better. She already knew Olivia lived nearby, and she herself was already dressed to some level of personal perfection. "Chances are I'll still be here, but you don't need to stay." She had a few calls to make, and not all of them were strictly work related at a time like that.
As she went to leave, Teddy could see how excited she looked. She had no intention of bringing it up, but it was one of those things about her that just seemed so endearing. "I'll see you then." She replied, waiting until she was out of sight before she went back to her phone.

Even with the pressure of the night being an actual date, Olivia didn't actually pay much attention to the way she dressed. She did fuss over her hair though but in the end, she did a quick side braid and left it at that.
She still had a few more minutes to spare before she had to leave to pick Teddy up and the urge to Google the best conversation starters was overwhelming so she decided to just leave the house and be early.
But even then, she could see Teddy exiting the office building and her heart beat quickened. "Just relax, Olivia. She's just a woman. She likes you. Don't be an idiot." She eased against the curb and got out of the car to wave Teddy down with a smile. "Hey."

Unlike her counterpart for the evening, Teddy didn't remotely stress about what was going to happen. She knew she could carry a conversation with this woman with such ease. They had incredible similarities in their views, and aside from the one time she'd visited her house, she couldn't recall an awkward moment shared. That was a good thing, and she could only hope that the good thing continued.
Stepping out of the office minutes before eight, Teddy shielded herself from the cool night air in a long burgundy coat, thankful she didn't opt to wear a dress this morning. Sure enough, timing seemed to be on their side, because a car pulled up and she stepped out. Teddy took the quick steps necessary to breach the distance between them. "Perfect timing." She pointed out; "Should we go?"

Olivia knew she had already seen Teddy before and had appreciated her outfit then. Seeing it now, however, she appreciated it even more and the smile on her face couldn't be any wider as she walked around the front of the car to open the door for Teddy.
It didn't quite occur to Olivia that opening the door seemed more of a gentleman thing to do. She figured it was just a universal sign of courtesy. And once Teddy climbed in, she closed the door for and walked around again to the driver's seat and locked the door immediately out of habit.
"If you need the seat warmer, it's the button by the cup holder on your side." Olivia pointed out before easing the car into traffic again. "Have you ever been to cooking classes before? Or have you mostly been self-taught?" Olivia asked casually.

Settling into the passenger's seat, Teddy let her eyes wander to the other side as she watched the other women get in the car. She had the advantage of being able to look given where she was, and for that she was grateful she didn't have to drive.
"It's fine, I'm used to the cold." Stagfort wasn't as bad as London, so she could count herself lucky for the difference.
She immediately wondered just how good a cook Olivia was. After all, taking classes was something she seemed to do a lot. "Completely self taught. I've never actually considered going to a class." She admitted, shrugging her shoulders before offering a small laugh; "When I started college, I was absolutely useless. It was a sink or swim moment."

"Alrightie." Olivia nodded and chanced a look at her company with a smile before concentrating on the road. Traffic was light despite it being the weekend so they won't be late for class even if Olivia took the time. She hardly ever rushed when she drove anyway.
Laughing at the offered anecdote, Olivia was reminded of her own failure at basically living in college. Her diet consisted of canned foods and ramen. It was only when she started working that she even thought of going to classes.
"I just stuck to things I could boil or microwave, so I totally get what you mean." She responded with a grin. "This class is actually a recommendation from my usual cooking class teacher. I don't know if you remember me telling you this but I'm a big fan of Asian food. I'm just excited to learn how to cook fusion food."

The similarity shared her Teddy laughing to herself. Perhaps it was the cliche aspect of being a college student that made it so likely. The thought of suffering years through sub-par meals sounded like a nightmare.
"I admire your ability to stick with the basics." She admitted then. She caved long ago considering how long they both had to spend studying.
"You must've learned a lot from your classes by now," Even once a week was frequent enough to pick up some pretty valuable skills, "Next time, you might have to cook for me."

Olivia laughed at Teddy's remark and shrugged. "I admit defeat when I see no other way out."
She nodded and moved one hand in a flip flop motion with a grin. "I'm alright. I end up cooking the same thing if I'm too lazy." She chuckled.
At the thought of a next time with Teddy, Olivia smiled and nodded. "You're not allowed to be my boss when I do. No polite professionalism."
Turning a corner, she saw their destination and eased the car against the curb and killed the engine. She walked around the car to open the door for Teddy.
