The response given was so typical. The humour that caught them was infectious. It was hard to believe that mere moments ago Teddy was delving into something so serious about her life.
A kiss caught her and left her breathless. She felt intoxicated by the connection given. It was hard to draw away, but she had to try regardless.
"The trick is to never give away what you want." She explained. Blushing was one thing, but it was Teddy who had somehow managed to draw them back on track, despite how she had worked to shift them away from it in the first place. In this instance, what she wanted was right in front of her. Surely that had to be so obvious by now.

Tips from a lawyer would always be noted, and Natalie's humor didn't fade when Teddy offered one so willingly. She supposed she had shown her hand too early, even if it turned around in her favor in the end, though only thanks to her counterpart. Dark eyes looked at the woman in front of her, an eyebrow slowly rising up.
"Does that mean I'm supposed to step away from you?" She asked, daring to keep a teasing tone. "Because I definitely don't think I can do that."

Teddy actually laughed at the idea of distance between them. She kept her hands on her to make a point, because given everything that had happened tonight it was hard to stay away. She filtered her hands purposefully around her waist to argue the point without a word.
"That depends on what you're trying to get." She pointed out then. Clearly, what she was trying to get was far too willing for any kind of fight. Tactics were clever and easily adjustable.
"What do you want?" She asked then, tilting her head a touch in a show of curiosity; "Or should I ask you what you need?"

Hands at her waist did well to keep her in place, even if Natalie had no intentions of moving in the first place. Her own hands stayed securely on the lawyer, and she even dared to inch a little closer, were it possible.
A question like that - regardless of its intent - made her heart rate speed up. "I thought there was strength in admitting we don't know what we want or need." She was quick to point out, but she knew her face said something different. She could have tried to stop there, but she wasn't the best at hiding her thoughts. "But," she offered the conjunction with purpose. "I want you." Such simple words came out on a low breath. "I feel like I need you."

Given the parameters of their conversation, Teddy wasn't sure she'd even get a proper response. She could have taken her own words and played it off so perfectly, but this was the joy in not dating a lawyer; she really didn't think like one.
True admissions were so pure. They were the kind Teddy wasn't honestly used to. It had been something of a battle to take a forward step with Olivia. The difference was almost shocking.
Leaning in, Teddy kissed her lightly, a small point of contact for such a weighted statement. But she chose not to apply heated pressure despite how those words shifted the pace of her heart. She gave in to the altered strength of something that seemed so small instead.
When she drew back, it wasn't by much. Just enough to be able to speak clearly. But her eyes were still closed, because it wasn't the time to cheat. "You're an anomaly," Clearly too good for this world by any means, "And you're flawless."

Light pressure against her lips still packed a punch. Because although there was brief silence as a response, that gentle connection carried significance, perfect in its delivery. Her own eyes remained closed, instead taking in every other sense of the lawyer she could. Everything to cement her into Natalie's memory, despite how sure she was that she'd never be able to forget the details of Teddy James.
Compliments hit her like she truly believed them. Like in eyes that could see everything, she still couldn't find a flaw in the trainer. It ripped the air from her lungs to feel so adorned by someone as perfect as her.
"I'm yours." Her voice stayed low, hands filtering to press to either side of Teddy's face.

Belief had struck her own tone of voice when she spoke of Natalie. From what she knew of her, she hadn't found a single flaw. The word suited her perfectly. From their first night together Teddy had seen her as nothing short of special. She even thought to call her perfect, but there were few people in the world that accepted such a heavy word for themselves.
What happened next was completely unexpected. The heavy implications behind two little words forced her to stumble, lost for something to say when it came to a definitive feeling. She must have known that they weren't words the lawyer could give back to her given the nature of their earlier conversation, but she said it anyway. It just added to the idea of who she was.
"Okay." Teddy finally managed. It wasn't eloquent; it harboured none of the control and poise she was so evidently known for. In the next moment, she caught her lips in a searing kiss.

Natalie hadn't known what to expect when she offered those words, true in their meaning despite being well aware of the prior conversation they had. Why Teddy had made an impromptu visit to her home in the first place. That didn't seem like it mattered though, because it wasn't about asking for reciprocation. It almost made that admittance easier, because it was a absurd to offer heavy words like those so early on, but she couldn't hold her cards to her chest.
Silence settled, and that was okay. It was something to take in, and Natalie could only hope that it wasn't too much too fast. And when Teddy finally did offer something of a response, it was perfect in its own way, lacking eloquence yet carrying acceptance. She'd take it.
Before she could even consider a response, heated pressure caught her off guard, but she was quick to reciprocate with matched intention.

There was always a kind of fear that her own response wouldn't be good enough. Had Natalie been a normal person, Teddy might have found herself asked to leave for a second time tonight. But she didn't. Flawless was the nature of her response to an incredibly ill-crafted answer.
Reciprocation hit her lips and reminded her that it was okay to say it was okay. Sometimes it was easier to let words fall away and she was grateful for the opportunity. Hands were slow to drop beneath the hem of the shirt she wore, fingertips sprawled out against her bare skin. With palms pressed to her back, she applied easy pressure to keep her as close as possible.

Palms against her back seared her skin, her own hands falling to Teddy's shoulders to insure there wouldn't be much distance created when Natalie started to take a step towards the bedroom, keeping gentle pressure to pull Teddy along with her. Long forgotten was the glass she set down and the plate of food she had prepared herself. Such things hardly seemed like they mattered when she was kissing her like that.
Forced distance wasn't welcome, but completely necessary for the breath she had to take. The moment her lungs filled up, she kissed the lawyer again, though this time shorter than the last, if only to fit in a request before catching her lips a third time. "Stay the night."

A step in a pointed direction was something Teddy followed without fail. Nevermind the part-full glasses strewn about the place and the dinner she had put together before the lawyer even arrived. Lungs burned with a lack of air and the need for it was met eventually.
A perfect request hit the short space between them, and though she knew she'd implied an agreement to that, she had never actually agreed to do it. Her mind reeled to the near-impossibility of going to work tomorrow if she stayed behind. She barely got the chance to think before she was kissed again, and though she longed for the contact, she had to say something.
"Yes. Please." A lack of her company would be nothing but daunting now that she'd admitted so much; "So long as you don't mind how early I'll have to leave."

Steps moved in sync with her own and she appreciated how easy it was to make the shift. Her hands pressed to Teddy's shoulder blades, fingers crossing along the fabric as she caught those words. An official agreement that meant there was no room for misconceptions; the word that followed solidified her desire to stay.
Clever fingers already caught the zipper at her back, drawing it downward as she took backwards steps through the threshold of her bedroom door. "As early as you need." She reassured. "I'll make sure you get up on time."

Teddy was grateful it wasn't seen as so bad that she still kept her work as a priority. But those familiar hands were so quick to reach for the removable line of the clever dress she chose to wear to work that day. She didn't fight the loss of it, but the distance was a strain she wasn't happy about at all.
"You'll have to let me get some sleep." She tried, almost uselessly. It wasn't as if her own actions were bound to make that point come into fruition, but it felt necessary to at least try to say it.

An agreement to let Teddy get some sleep never ended up passing Natalie's lips, and in the end it was probably good she didn't promise to do so. Keeping it would have been impossible.
The sound of the alarm that was haphazardly set came far too soon. She had promised to make sure the lawyer would get up in the morning with enough time to insure she would make it to work in an appropriate fashion, but the tune that played through her phone drew a little groan out of the trainer. An arm detangled itself from the mess of limbs under the sheets, nose crinkling as she grabbed her phone, quickly hitting the snooze on the alarm. Even if the form next to her was already stirring, Natalie pressed her lips against her shoulder, eyes refusing to open despite her promise. "It's time to get up." She mumbled, but an arm was already finding its way back around the lawyer's body, drawing her in close.

Asking for any time would prove to be famous last words for Teddy. The early pitch of the morning hit too soon. It felt like she'd only just managed to get to sleep before a sound was informing her it was time to drag her body out of bed. She didn't make a sound, nor did she open her eyes. Instead she curled inward, refusing to stretch her locked limbs just yet.
It really was time to get up, but the arm that draped back across her waist didn't make that feel so. She couldn't have moved if she wanted to, and so she reached for the hand that held her to hold onto it. "Okay." Teddy declared then, evidently only willing the arm around her to free her.
