"SHE WAS BEAUTIFUL, BUT SHE WAS BEAUTIFUL IN THE WAY A FOREST FIRE WAS BEAUTIFUL; SOMETHING TO BE ADMIRED FROM A DISTANCE."
❝
Standing outside Stagfort's local college with a crate of beer and a sign saying "Miss. Leigh" naturally offered the brunette a few odd looks. She didn't really mind, of course. Being shy never got you anywhere, she always told herself. She'd might as well embrace her crazy.
Whenever someone stepped through the doorway, Alice leaned forward, hoping she'd catch a glimpse of a certain blonde. Alice didn't know when her friend would be finished with her classes and she'd already been waiting for a good ten minutes.
Patience had never been Alice's virtue, but she remained steady in her search.
Once she finally saw the girl she was looking for, she lifted the sign high in the air and waggled it about, hoping to catch her favorite blonde's attention.
The occasional snicker could be heard from a certain smirking blonde throughout the afternoon lecture as about half of the room were part of one of the sports clubs, and as a result had gotten horribly, horrifically drunk the night before, and were wearing sunglasses, grumbling and in various states of passed out on the desks. The professor in charge of course, was used to this, so continued the tirade unhindered by the carpet of hung over students, causing the occasional twitch from them when she raised her voice.
The fire starter blonde however, had decided to stay in and finish the work for the weekend so she'd be able to go out and have a fun time, and then not flail around awkwardly in seminars. And she was oh so smug about this, even when the lesson concluded she was smirking all the way out the front door, smoothing out as she made her way out of the building before re-igniting the moment she stepped out into the crisp air, grinning at the attractive friend awaiting her.
With a more notable spring in her step, she skipped over to her friend, clad in a long sleeved shirt, skinny jeans, a fluffy jumper and then a coat and accessories on top of that. There was no such thing as overkill going outside this time of year.
Practically tackling the brunette in a hug, April squeaked with glee "Aliceeee~" as she pounced.
A grin was firmly placed on the brunette's lips by the time the blonde had managed to wrap her arms around her. A chuckle escaped her as she lifted her own arms, dropping the sign in the process.
"Hey there," she murmured against the pretty blonde's hair. She always smelled good - it was one of the things Alice had noticed first about her friend. Her smell - and her incredibly girly dress code. Both of which Alice found amusing.
Pulling the blonde away enough for her to glance at her face, another grin splayed on her face. "Classes didn't treat you too badly, hm?" she asked. Alice didn't care much for school. She'd opted out of the whole college experience herself, though, high school hadn't been much better.
April let out a squeal of pure glee as she slightly toppled her friend over into an embrace. She gave her brunette friend a quick kiss on the cheek, followed by another tirade of gleeful laughter before pulling away from her. "Hey yourself gorgeous!"
The blonde swept up the sign in one quick motion and glanced over it before smirking. "I do adore your style. You're one of a kind." she supplied, tucking the sign under her arm, before glancing at the girl again, taking in her attire and smile, quickly returning to eye level with yet another chuckle. "Oh it was fine, I was one of the only delinquents smart enough to not get wasted before the last big lecture of the week." she added with a wink. "Saving it for after is much more fun, I don't gotta be draped over the desk instead of behind it this way."
She leaned into squeeze the brunette in another sudden hug before parting with a little bounce back. "So, what's the plan hun? Just hang out and see what mischief we can cause, or something more structured like attacking some clubs with our moves, hmmm?" Once the rapid fire questions were done, they were followed with a slightly raised eyebrow.
Alice made a grimace at that; She'd never understand how someone would pick studying over having a good time. But she couldn't really judge it, either. After all, she understood well enough that some people's desires didn't always align with her own. "You could've just skipped," she offered with a simple shrug. College wasn't for Alice. It had never been in her cards.
Still, the brunette smiled, draping her arm over the blonde's shoulders as she shifted away. "Well," she began, dragging the word out. "I was thinking about introducing you to my other line of work:" She wiggled her eyebrows at that. She'd been dying to get some familiar face to join her line of career; Burlesque dancing. It helped her motivated that her club sorely needed more dancers. What also helped was that the blonde currently in front of her was a perfect fit.
April knew plenty of people that had skipped lectures and labs frequently, but she never completely understood why others thought that she would. She liked being top of the class, she enjoyed the trill she got from coming out ahead of other people she deemed to be super smart. It was this little rush she got whenever somebody got into it with her and she beat them in something, there was nothing quite like it. Although, even if she wasn't the winner competition was always fun regardless of the outcome.
"Nah, then I'd let all of the losers catch up to me, and I can't have that." She winked. "Besides that, I still manage to go out and have more fun than most of the rest of my class combined!"
April tilted her head for a moment, trying to imagine Alice in a burlesque dancing environment and smirked. "Well, I'd love to watch you dance, it would be quite educational."
She blinked. "Oh! You were asking me to come and try? Sure! I dunno how good I'll be, but I'm always down for tryin' out new things!" The blonde exclaimed, leaning into the other girl and giving her a one armed squeeze of affection.
She didn't really agree with the girl, but decided against commenting. Each to their own and all that.
Looking at the blonde, Alice had to admit that she had the perfect body type for burlesque. She honestly doubted it would be something she'd end up putting a lot of time into, given how much time she wanted to put into her studies, but what was the harm?
"Great." Alice said, smiling. She swirled around then. "Might as well get going then." She put her arm around the blonde, giving her a slight nudge in the direction they were to head. "I have the perfect costume for you, too."
